Other ingredients not mentioned:

Potatoe leaves make a fungicide.
Rhubarb leaves make an insecticide.
Cider vinegar makes a repellant and fungicide - works great with garlic, but use only half a tea spoon per pint of water or it can result in leaf damage.

The tobacco infusion mentioned in Carol's link is great - you can just soak cigarette butts in water over night for a quick treatment.

nematodes and other root attacking pests can be treated with a sugar solution.

A healthy plant has a healthy immune system, we should work with nature - not against it.
