I heard a really nice one, aboriginal. The women in the group tended to menstruate at the same time, lunar earth kind of togetherness. So, at menses time, they all take off, sit on moss stones for a week, catch up with each other, sewing, the grandparents look after the kids

Then at ovulation time, the women get all (especially!!) amorous again, and the men have missed them too. There were known herbs for inducing abortions, just as others for encouraging fetal growth or labour etc.
