First off, hospitals at legally not allowed to not treat an ill person due to lack of money. So, the idea that people are going to die who don't have insurance is not true. There is a problem with costs and dealing with what is fair, tort reform, and unnecessary defensive medicine.
I watched Moore's film and yes I cried as well, but I also realized there was a lot of disinformation in the movie. Of course Cuba was going to help these poor uncared for Americans. Why didn't Moore get footage from Cuban's using the system? Many come to America from around the world who have the "great socialized" medicine in their country. They come here because the waits are too long in their country. The service is rationed. Many die waiting for an operation or suffer so much waiting.
This is a complex problem, and the government is not the one to fix it by taking it over. Just look at how well they've managed the VA hospitals, medicare and medicaid. Hell, they couldn't even manage cash for clunkers!
We need a catastrophic program, ability to buy insurance across state borders, and people without insurance need to be given the same price as those with insurance. That is a huge part of the problem. The funny thing is that it's not the doctors who are raping the people financially, but the hospital services and collection offices. There is a way to make them reduce there bills usually. You have to know the language:

And I've been asking about these supposed Death Boards you are all concerned about in the USA and I was told that the person has the right to sign a form asking not to be resusuitated if they are cronic and terminal and going to die anay way and don't want to drag on in pain if the have a cardiac arrest etc... if this is true I would gladley sign such a form if I was in that position.... Can any one explain to me if you are going to have the right to still have private health insurance as well as public??? In the USA?
I saw the film Sicko by Micheal Moor and I cried my eyes out at it ... if this is any way true then surely you Americans have the worst system going.. Private health care who wont pay out ...and have currupt people actually making millions to deny private insurance paying people their health costs when they apply.... as well as poor people who can'r afford to pay hospitals going untreated or facing bankrupsy after being treated and presented massive bills?
How can any thing be worse then the way America's health care was???
