There is a connection between adrenal function and thyroid function. I just went online, and here is an informative article.
It often makes sense to have a panel of tests for other glands, but for you, it might be good to get your adrenals tested as many of the symptoms of compromised adrenals mimic thyroid problems.

There are natural ways to detox the adrenal glands - like Coleus and Licorice tinctures along with guggul or chlorella and triphala. Coleus is said to kick off toxins that are attached to the adrenal receptors. Like several have already said, iodine is said to detox the thyroid receptors. Simply adding kelp (from a shaker bottle) onto salads can give you that gentle detox without bombarding your gland if you have reservations about iodine.

If your doctor puts you on Synthroid - this is one generic prescription that Walmart offers for just $4 per month. Whatever our politics around Walmart may be, at least this is one benefit of its existence.
