torz, I know you were not asking me, but I would say that it will affect both the US and the UK.

All manner of survival type problems, from major to minor are made easier to cope with if you have stored food. Your storage milestones are 2wks (the most essential level in my opinion), followed by 2-3months then the extreme of 1 year. I think 1 year is a tall order for most people, but 2wks of food autonomy should be acheivable by everyone. That level of cover will sort you out for the broadest range of inconveniences that can befall you.

In a pandemic situation - one might want to self-quarantine. If so, how long for? You will need food for that as well.

Large hordes of food could be declared illegal and confiscated in a crisis - some thought should be given to how you might deal with that.
