I had a SE C702 which had GPS but I dropped it in the canal, I took that as a sign not to get a phone with GPS and now have a really old phone.
Mind you the GPS on the c702 was rubbish, I had the maps on it and it wasn't accurate at all.

Any phone that has a battery inserted and some power left can be triangulated, I hear.
GPS is precise but triangulation is when they figure your vicinity from the next cellphone towers that transfer your signal.
WHY telephones allow this to happen even when they're off we have to ask Nokia et al... but I just heard that. Better safe than sorry.
