I am a community economic development practionner.

I'm not sure everyone here knows what that means, but it encompasses a lot of ground. I am here to help achieve the goals put forth for this forum.

If anyone wants to discuss anything related to this project, I would appreciate the opportunity.

Organizing strategies, business opportunities, community planning, you name it.

This concept of an economic development practionner is not well understood, and in fact the field is in its infancy.

As a function, I can help with business planning and financing strategies, identify gaps in the marketplace that provide opportunities, putting customers and producers together - linking and leveraging opportunities.

A Case Study, well theres many, but right now I'm working on Pine Beetle response- developing the capacity in the communities affected to assist them in finding solutions to their economic circumstance.

Some of the things I'm championing include a new method to organize community colleges, ec dev. organizations and the local university into a knowledge grid that individuals and small business have access to to invigorate their activities.

I have been involved with the implementation of Green industrial strategies and am working on policy reform to make sustainable industry a reality, at least on some landscapes.

I was involved with the structure of an organization some years ago which put ownership of 200 odd fishing boats back in the hands of first nations when the Banks pulled the pin.

I'm not sure I'm providing the right kind of background.I'm one of those backroom guys....
