Oh boy, another useless "strike" that no one will follow.

Sorry about the cynicism.

Even if WE don't buy anything, the majority of the country will still buy, buy, buy.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. (margaret Mead)
There always is someone that does something first. With such "positive" ( you always promote positive attitude) attitude nothing will ever be done.

i'll tell you a story. A few years ago, when most people still used plastic shopping bags when doing shopping, I always, ostentantiously asked the shop assistant not to put my stuff into a plastic bag because I had my own,( made of cotton). I did it a few times and then within a few days I saw people coming to the store with cotton shopping bags, i thought the: "A miracle or what...?"

recently, i decided
if i hadn't used something for 1 year,
i had to free-cycle it, or give it to someone who would use it

it is time to get bartering / and, eXchanging again

it is time to look at everything you purchase

if the label says modified put it back

also -- are you using the local farmer's markets ???

are you learning how to make things from scratch...
where you control what goes into it !!!

are you learning to ride a bike / or, walk
or, limit how much you need to drive ???

this really is all about -- stopping bad exchange

I'm ready for a Miracle, thanks burgundia.

Just a friendly reminder, dare yourself and friends not to spend any monopoly money for one day.
Not as though less money isn't being spent every day already.
Thank you economic stimulus! :naughty:

Re: National Strike Day July 13th 2009 - DO NOT BUY ANYTHING

I'll be onboard but I do this most every day. I don't have enough money to buy anything anyway. I grow a lot of my food, go to the local farm's market, my husband and I car pool to work. We keep the thermostat high even with our Texas heat and are looking into ways to go wind or solar. I try to not let the water run when washing my hands or brushing my teeth. I use to love long showers but now filter my water and shower quickly. I feel like I am on stirke everyday. So I'm am down with 7/13/09.:original:
