Interesting. I'll watch the full version when it comes out. I hope he also continues to speak out about the state of residential childcare.
From my experience Bill Mahoney is correct that residential child care is not caring for our children. The majority of the children who have the misfortune to land in the hands of the state for their upbringing having appalling outcomes. I worked for a private residential childcare company and their main concern was the £12,000 approx per week per child that they received. "Heads on beds" was their mantra. I spoke out about various issues to try and improve the lot of the kids but got nowhere and eventually had to resign. Since June last year I've not been able to get a job due to the company giving me a poor and inaccurate reference. The turnover at the care home was huge which is telling because people won't stay in the job. I'm not saying all residential childcare providers are in adequate but lots of people know the care system leaves a lot to be desired and there is most definetly room for improvement. |

Please take the time to read this article, all of it: http://www.oneballradio.com/node/330
Matthew Delooze tells it like it is. There's a lot more going on than the 5 sense level, as he puts it. |
