Forums in general

As I've only had experience of two forums I can't make a judgment but from discussions I've had with other folk, I've become aware that there is no such thing as an open forum that is without twits or drongos or bloody galahs stuffing it up for everyone else by going off on a track that bears no relationship to the original focus of the particular forum. :mad3: The moral seems to be that you take the good with the bad and when the bad gets too much for you to handle you stay away for a few days or have as many strong drinks as it takes to calm you down. :drinks_wine:

The problem with the last suggestion is that by following it, you could develop other problems - like seeing double and feeling single. Or is it the other way round? Seeling fingle - nope, tha's not right either. :insane: I think I'll just lie down and have worty finks. :sleep_1:

Words of wisdom...as usual. A worldwide forum is an excellent exercise in attempting to get along. No matter how a forum is set up...there are going to be problems. Stepping away from the computer for a few days...and getting lots of exercise and rest...may be some of the best advice regarding the current 'crisis'.

I just wrote this to a member that had written me a Goodbye note yet has still remained in the picture... And I am seeing that it applies to all that I see here as well so I'm sharing the little burst of wisdom a fine drink gives :naughty:

Here goes... a little something like this...

Perhaps we're all still here because this is where we really learn to stick together... take the good with the bad for better or for worse because we all know we will get through it... TOGETHER!

The 'bad apples' eventually get weeded out because we stick together regardless of the ruckus... Even though we may cause it at times, we are forgiving AND we are understanding... Although we see different points of view at times, we have one common goal... Peace, love and harmony, and I think some people find it here :wub2: :wink2:

Ah Brinty, you are such a tonic, (and No, no gin with that, hate the stuff, but a nice brandy and dry would go down nicely. I might make it a double) This forum is a bit like a failed marriage, if you havent changed in attitude, you are going to attract the same ol crappy mate, (just like the first one!!!) in your next relationship. (forum) Remember the Law of Attraction!!

Cheers (hic)

I feel that the disruptive force or the annoying posters are a bit like the effect that a rough patch of road has on you when you've been driving on a smooth highway. The rough patches are a fact of life so you need to make allowances for them and not go off at the council concerned. There's an old saying that you should be careful what you pray for because you might just get it. The story that springs to mind is the one about the young person who had a deformed hand and prayed for them both to be the same. The prayer was answered overnight and when they awoke in the morning, both hands were deformed. :mfr_omg:

I wonder if the "new" forum will fare any better in the long run.

Anyone remember "THE GOONS"
"Hold hands this is an up stick" up hands this is a hold stick" hold up this is a" "this is a stick hands" (Hands up this is a hold up) The message never got out. Final words if I remember was. Oh just give me the money.

Forum are places you come to, to get misunderstood.

Wear your asbestos pants.
Buy a flame gun.
I havent got one,
Smiling broadly.

People are so surprised when flame wars break out. It is unfortunately normal for forums, till it isent.

Oh "THE GOONS" - I remember them well. :woot_jump:

When Bluebottle was asked why he was wearing a boot full of porridge on his head he replied, "I always were one on Mondays." When told that the day was Tuesday he responded, "Oh! I feel such a fool!" :lol3: Or when Morriarty claimed he had the sea in his blood Neddy Seagoon replied, "Yes, you can see where it gets in." :original: Morriarty then warned Neddy to be careful as he came from a family who had been sailors for generations and he listed the Duke of Orange as an ancestor. To which Neddy commented, "So folks, he comes from a long line of navel oranges." :roftl:

Oh those were the good old days when humor was simple and there was no smut. :thumb_yello:

Yes the Goons.
If there isent the f word it aint funny these days. Lauughable.
Heres one for you.
Convict Eccles fell in a bucket of wet cement and looks like becoming a hardened criminal.
The voices made it.

On Spike Milligans tomb stone.
I told you I was ill.

What a way to go.
Love and respect

The Goons - someone says to Eccles: "What are you doing here?". Eccles says: "Everyone has to be somewhere.".

Yes, I agree you get all sorts of people on forums. Personally, AV1 and AV2 are helping me to learn how to be tolerant. After 15 years in Scientology, where "being reasonable" was a high-crime, trust me I'm learning valuable lessons:original:
