I'm from the Newcastle / Hunter Valley area and understand that there may be a get together sometime this month of the Sydney Ground Crew, possibily just before Christmas?
Can anyone tell me if this is true and where and when the meeting is likely to occur, please.
I would be very interested in attending and contributing to the discussions.

Hi All. I've been home for about 1.5 hours and thought i'd just thank all those members that attended the Sydney Ground Crew meeting at Hyde PArk today Saturday 14th Dec.
If i can recall there were 10 members there, It was my first meeting and i enjoyed everybody's company thoroughly. It was a great day with the weather being kind to us. Lawrence of Australia was a very good host, having baked some pies and supplying food for us.
There will be other reports from fellow members in the next day or so .

Henners, it was a pleasure meeting you mate !
And yes another thoroughly enjoyable day had by me too.

Thanks to Lawrence of Arabia for the home cooking and general relaxed vibe in organising it all.
I think this once a month thing is the go, and I feel like our discussions are becoming less chaotic and .... more focused where one person will have a little speil. We even had a token soap box which was passed arround jokingly :trumpet:
Henners I believe you're up for the next one !
Good luck with that.
And G'day to our old friend John (Relayer) from Old Melbourne Town :tongue2: DVD's coming to you my friend.
Trish where were ya ! We missed you.
Many people agreed that this site was worth reading so for any who haven't - here it is ...

Re: Sydney Australia

Here's a post from Vesta via me ...

Hello dearest Sydney GC members,

I must apologise to you all as I will not be making the trip to see you all today.... I have had a bad week of it with these rotten westerly winds and my sinuses are so backed up I can't think straight let alone drive! I am so very disappointed to not be seeing you all before christmas as I was really looking forward to another day of inspiration and exchanges of knowledge and ideas.
Pls do keep me in mind for the next mtg, I intend to make it irrespective of health issues.
Manda and I would also in the early part of the NY would love to see you all considering a mtg down in the ACT. This would give the country/regional ppl in NSW an opportunity to meet their city cousins. :wink2:

On another note for those taking any med's and who are considering stockpiling what they may need for the future pls ensure you are aware of all the side effects that they may cause!!!!! Only yesterday I was informed by an older pharmacist that the drug I have been taking for the last 9-10 wks for my sinus issues has a serotonin inhibitor as a main feature of the drug. I was advised by another pharmacist that this was the replacement for the drug I had previously been using and that I would be fine taking it on daily basis but this chap I spoke with yesterday informed me it was not for long term use as one of the main things it did as a side effect was cause depression! Not that I have been diagnosed as clinically depressed but just feeling flat and listless and not able to put my finger on it but now i know and will be searching for something else without the side effect to treat the symptoms. Be warned that you truly do need to know the implications of anything you are putting into your body or if offering even as little as an aspirin to someone else in the future it might have effects that they should be aware of.........

Take care of yourselves my lovely ones and may 2009 be kind to you all,

blessings and best wishes,

Vesta.

Re: Sydney Australia

Hi

I am sorry that I was not there yesterday. There were two reasons: The main one was my personal situation with regards to taking care with my identity (which will be soon be behind me), and also the strong winds we have had, blew down some bits of tree in the front garden which I had to spend time making safe.

At least I had a play with my new chainsaw :naughty:

Now that this forum has gone subscription, anyone who needs to email me may do so on the following email address:

I look forwards to seeing more of you all next year.

G'day all , just got back from the city (here in Sydney) and noticed the large signs that usually indicate changed traffic problems or special notifications all over the city indicating that on Tuesday there is a special test for warnings sirens and signals not to be alarmed.

This is the web ad.

Emergency Alarm Test on Tuesday 23 December
Start: 19/12/2008 3:35:00 PM
A public test of the Sydney CBD Emergency Warning System will be conducted at 12.15pm on Tuesday 23 December. Members of the public should not be alarmed – it is a test only.

Interesting...... Are they preparing for something.............:mfr_omg::mfr_lol:

Hi all,

don't know how many of you have kids but I've just been to the cinema today and seen the shorts for this new movie - are they foreshadowing or just indocrinating our kids?

It's called 'monsters vs aliens' and it's release date is 27 March 2009.

Anyways make of it what you will but here's the link to the official trailer:
http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=YtdrGikcihA

While it's kind of funny and they do get some laughs at the expense of alphabet agencies I'm wondering what subliminals are potentially locked in and what the underlying current of the entire movie will be like.....

Blessings,

Vesta.

Re: Sydney Australia

Hello all and Happy New Year. We are planning a Ground Crew Meeting possibly in Canberra at the end of January the 31st. For now we are trying to get numbers who are interested in coming. I have a couple of ideas. Firstly, I will drive down myself and have 4 spare seats to take members to Canberra, or If we have enough numbers, i might be able to dry hire/borrow a vehicle from work to take all of us down there. (If you don't know, i am a coach driver) Please register your interest as soon as possible with me. Either PM me or just add your name on this post. I will also send an email to those on the small data base we have from previous meetings.

We have some new subjects to discuss.

"HAPPY" NEW YEAR 2009 TO ALL THE NSW & VIC GROUND CREWS & THEIR FAMILIES.

Well it's certainly going to be an interesting new year, given how the last few months of 2008 went. Obviously developments in world economics will be viewed with fascination and anticipation as this will affect us all in one way or another.

Thanks Relayer for your for your efforts and encouragement of your NSW brethren and the hard work you put in to, for your own crew in VIC. You come across as a genuine Scholar and Gentleman. Onya mate! :thumb_yello:

Hi there Henners. I'd be interested in coming down to Canberra, assuming we can get good numbers to travel down. We'll see how the 'shout out' goes and take it from there. Hear from you soon ...:winksmiley02:

Re: Sydney Australia

Hello fellow ground crew members. If you've been away on Holidays, Happy New Year.
Please note we are planning a G.C. meeting in Canberra for those in the country, outwest or out of the city. The date is planned for the 31st. It was posted earlier last week. If you are interested in coming, please advise me as soon as possible, either by PM, or send me an email on henners31@hotmail.com .

If we have enough numbers, i can possibly get a 14 seater from work cheap. I'll drive it. If not, i'll be driving my own car and have a spare 4 seats.
So far i have Ngai te rangi, and pablo, please let us know as soon as possible.

If we don't get the numbers for the 31st, we will change the date to suit the masses in February sometime.
