Meeting in Australia about Micronations

Hi Everybody,

Not many of you will know this, but I hold the noble title of 'Lord'. Before you all go running to the noble family books of Olde England and do research, I must hastily add that I am 'Lord Stephen of Sealand'. Sealand is a micronation off the south eastern coast of England and has been for over forty years.

The topic of micronations is not really investigated and only doing your homework, you will find micronations all over the world. Probably the most famous micronation would be Vatican City in the center of Rome, Italy.

For all the people interested about the topic, including how to begin your own micronation, there will be a conference to be held in Sydney, Australia on the 17th of April next. I can't go as I'm almost on the other side of the world, however if there are any members interested who live in the Oceania region, and who can make the conference it may be interesting to repass information to the rest of the forum as to the whys' and how tos' as there seems to be interest in the forums to make 'communities' and 'safe houses'.

Best regards,

Steve

Wow! Thanks Steve... I mean Lord Steve :original:

Puts a new spin on the idea of a radiant zone alright.
King Ash (luminari) and Queen E...... of Elysium?? I like it.
:lol3:

Oh I found a Micronation inside of Australia;

Quote:

The Principality of Hutt River is situated 595 km north of Perth, Western Australia and is about 75 square km in area, consisting of some 18,500 acres of land.

Hutt River is an Independent Sovereign State having seceded from Australia on the Twenty First Day of April 1970 and is of comparable size to Hong Kong (not the New Territories).

The Principality consists of undulating farmland well covered in places with a wealth of shrubs and glorious wildflowers.

H.R.H. Prince Leonard, a keen supporter of both the Arts and Conservation, has named parts of the Principality with such identities as Lake Beginning, Mount Secession, Lake Serenity and Wild Boar Gorge. His town site, Nain, has been developed with many buildings to provide facilities for the tourists who visit in their thousands each year.

Hi Luminari,

This is the micronation that is involved with the conference in Sydney on "Hells Island" if I got that right.

If you're from that neck of the woods it could be a good idea to do a recky and see waht's important to know.

Best regards,

Steve

You too can be a Lord of Sealand. Buy your title from their website: www.sealandgov.org

It's about $50 - a reasonable price for feeding your ego.

Interesting....

I am wondering if this could possibly be a solution or protection against attacks on individual sovereignty. yes? no? maybe?

Hi Majorion,

I have the benefit of you asking me about the benefits! I could ask you hat are the benefits of being a Lord in any country. Personally I don't see any in so much as it changing the way I live or think. I think the benefit of holding such a title is from what the others perceive a noble title to mean. Do I get a better table in a restaurant? Sometimes. Although I must admit, here in Brazil, a foreign accent goes a long way, so it could be the fact that I'm not Brazilian which gives me some 'privilages'.

I think the real benefits, or not, will be found when I step foot in the UK - even though the title is not British, I am so the only difference between me and the other Brits will be the title, if you understand what I mean.

Best regards,

Steve
