There have been a significant amount of after shocks but they are mostly at 35 kilometres deep. I am not a geologist but I think that is odd

It is not unkown that strong aftershocks can happen

The problem with Chile is the Chaiten Caldera, it is truly enormous!

Santiago, Chile (CNN) -- A 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck Chile on Thursday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The earthquake shook the ground near Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins near the Chilean coast. It struck at 11:39 a.m. local time (9:39 a.m. ET) as Chile prepared to inaugurate a new president, Sebastian Pinera.

The February 27 earthquake was violent enough to move the Chilean city of Concepcion at least 10 feet to the west, and Santiago about 11 inches to the west-southwest, researchers said.

Only for the last 3 months! But then I am in southern California, eight miles from the San Andreas fault. (more fun when Mother Nature plays silly buggers, Swanny;))

I've had this odd thing going on, a feeling like the earth suddenly pushing up on my feet, about 18 inches, for this whole time, as well. "Just the tequila talkin'." I keep telling myself.

Earthquake Prevention

Can earthquakes be prevented? Some of them can. Some are inadvertently triggered by human actions. Preventing these is simple, as long as people can learn the dangers and be more careful.

However the focus here is on INTENTIONAL TRIGGERING of earthquakes, which has been developed (in secret, of course) to the point of extreme precision.

A few years ago a California man came up with a reliable and accurate method of predicting seismic activity, which involved monitoring the radio-frequency emanations of quartz crystals under compression. He had been thrown in jail over fabricated charges, but with the help of a small team still managed to get predictions published on the web. This effort was silenced -- likely because the data clearly showed the difference between natural and artificially-induced quakes.

Triggering is done using some of the same equipment used to engineer weather, producing powerful electromagnetic emanations with harmonic frequencies. Side effects include unusual light shows in the atmosphere before and during the events.

So, how do we stop this?

Discussion has been opened up on the Nation of Earth member site.

Excerpt:

WE DO NOT HAVE TO BE WITNESS to engineered disasters and the manipulations that follow. Pray. Meditate. Focus your INTENT. Do whatever it is that you do, maybe try something new.
We ask that the energy behind the manipulations of weather and tectonics be cleared. We reject the very idea of such technology being used -- not turning a blind eye to the facts, but dissolving the plan and the process. Let this forever be gone from our Mother Earth, so that she and her People may thrive and prosper in Peace.

Chile's indigenous Mapuche speak out online

Chileans have been using Twitter to highlight articles from indigenous Mapuche blogs and websites that point to widespread devastation in rural areas since the earthquake on 27 February. Many complain that the desperate situation in indigenous communities has scarcely been mentioned in Chilean media.

On Global Voices , Silvia Vinas has translated Spanish-language blogs and Twitter messages that demonstrate how the indigenous community is making its situation known on the web.
