It's funny...I just noticed there are so many now...that they are creating topics...taking the counter point...agreeing...then the troll that made the counter point comes around to the way of thinking of the first troll.

So the board that we loved so much has been stolen away and become a virtual fairy tale

Troll2 accepts Original Point

On the surface, using your example, it appears to be effective reasoning among open minds. That being said, I don't know specifically what example you're referring to.

Thinking about this more, you may have stumbled on a problem with internet forums and people in general.

I think most people enter a debate with a mindset of:

"I am RIGHT and I need to CONVINCE the other person/people to MY way of thinking."

When a more intellectually honest way to approach it would be...

"I THINK I am right, but I would like to FIND OUT whether or not my THINKING is correct"

I think Stargazer is saying that a troll needs another troll to exist.

One or more persons to continue the subject going...in hope of dragging as much bystanders as possible with them.

There is a simple solution to this - do not feed the trolls.

Open mind is like a sack of dirty laundry - you never know what dangers are inside but the smell speaks for itself.

Just to clarify, with a little help from wiki..

a troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory,
extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community
such as ours, with the primary intent of provoking other
users into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting
normal on-topic discussion.

There are numerous examples of this in recent days here.

On a personal note:
I disagree with what's probably a majority of people here on what the future holds and what is real and what's new-age make believe.
I use an old school way of thinking in these cases,
If i have nothing positive to add then I say nothing.
Nothing is gained by shooting down another persons ideas or concepts of reality.

It seems odd to me that for a member base that seems to be so love-oriented, there seems to be some vitriol (by some) for new or returning remembers who don't toe the majority line in here.

Couldnt agree more,Im new here and Im gobsmacked at the elitist attitude of some long term members.Im not an old member returning, Im just new, and to the person above that said love is here on this forum, and trolls are loved but not forgiven, well do I really need to point out the obvious?

A mind is like a parashute,it has to be open to work.Im not here to ruffle feathers,Im here to learn new things,the label troll is thrown around far to much IMO,not just here but everywhere.Yes they are around but ther just kids most of them with a giddy rush of power that goes to there heads.Love and forgive is the answer.If I dont agree with something then I will offer an oposing idea,thats not trolling.Thats human.Perhaps some new blood is just what this place needs,shake people out of there comfort zone.:naughty:

Wow... I really don't know what you were referring too. I was asking an honest question there. Still am too.

The only member I think I've poked at was New Age Messiah and nothing bad i consider, maybe busting balls little- and to his credit he didn't see to be affected one bit.

I'm not 'baiting' you. I really am just asking you, with the exception of the members who are already banned, could you give me an example or two of these attacks that you say are continuing?

Just trying to determine if maybe what you consider an attack is not what others or myself do, just so we are on the same page. I hope you consider this a reasonable request.

Come on, to be frank that is a BS answer.

I am genuinely trying to get to the root of the issue with you, or at least determine what it is. And you are being uncooperative.

If you don't want any solutions or understanding, fine. Then don't complain about it.
Unless that is just what you want to do.
