Biometrics now being taught to 11-12 year olds in UK

The national curriculum in schools in the UK began to change in 2008. Schools were given a choice on what to do, but a lot opted for the Oxford Science works curriculum.

The year 7 (11-12 year olds - don't know the equivalnet grade in the US) textbook has a chapter entitled differences which teaches the classification of living things and variation between them. On double page spread (pages 32-33) in the textbook is entitled Identifying differences.

Here is a quote from the book:

'Ben reads a lot. He changes his library books every week. He used to
have a library card. But now he just puts his finger in a scanner. It’s
very quick and he doesn’t have to worry about losing his card.'

It then talks how the shape of peoples' faces and their iris's to identify them and that biometric passports have started to be issued since 2007.

It talks about how biometrics is normal and just used to make life more convenient and cheap.

What do you think?
