We are still working on Majorion - can't find anything wrong.

I think Stargazer... said he was having problems too.

Re: this thread for new members to leave messages if you having problems and need h

If the option to send a personal message is different than the option to send an email, than I have the same issue as majorion.
I tried to solve the problem by following links regarding "Private Messaging" and how to "Send a Private Message" from the FAQ.
I got this message:
Quote:

vBulletin Message

ubiquitousquintessence, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Also, I can't figure out how to respond to "Visitor Messages" in my profile.

Thanks

Once you have made a set number of posts and/or have been a member for a certain amount of time the PM capability gets switched on automatically by the system. Your account will likely get switched in the next few days.
Hope this helps

Hi. Can anyone tell me how to embed youtube clips on my post as I can only leave links. Also how do you leave links without showing the long address, ie Edit Avatar?

Type [/youtube]at the end of the link and [youtube]at the beginning. Don't leave any spaces.

Type [url= page link... ] then insert your text to show up . Don't leave any spaces. Type : /url in brackets at the end again to close .

Don't be afraid to experiment, use the preview button under the post if not sure how the result looks like.

It's an old computer code system working for most other similar functions too.

Regards and blessings

HTML Code:

Hi gita

Insert the youtube file code between [youtube] and [/youtube] tags.
so if the youtube vid url is
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vHRwmFc-1o
the following is typed:

[youtube]1vHRwmFc-1o[/youtube]

it should look like this

Highlight the word(s) you want to link like that in the edit post window, then click the insert link icon https://www.projectavalon.net/forum/...createlink.gif and paste in the link.
The highlighted text will now be linked to the entry you inserted.

Agape and Gaialove – Thank you both so much and the example was a great help too. I feel almost clever now!! :original:

One more question;

How do I embed one of my pictures from my own computers onto the forum?

mudra 01-06-2010 09:01 PM

Re: this thread for new members to leave messages if you having problems and need h

Hello Gita,

If you want to post your own pictures on the forum you need to download them first in your albums.
There is a link to create an album on the right side of your profile page.

Once downloaded there you click on it and save the URL of the image .
Then paste it into the " insert image " icon of your quick reply box .
Don't remove what comes highlighted there .. just paste the URL.

Let us know how you are doing.

Have a good time in Avalon.

Love Always
mudra

As a member, you can create Albums of images that are linked to your public profile. Albums can be created by visiting the User Control Panel, and clicking on the 'Pictures & Albums' link, and then clicking on 'Add Album'.
Each album can have a title ('Joe's Holiday to Nepal'), a description ('A bunch of photos from my recent adventure') and can be of three different types: Public, Private or Profile.
  • Public albums can be viewed by anyone
  • Private albums can only be viewed by site staff (moderators, administrators) and your Friends and Contacts (info)
  • Profile albums are viewable only by you. However, you can use the images to customize your public profile (info)

Once you've created an album you can upload images to it. Simply view the album and click on 'Upload Pictures'.
You'll have the option to give each picture a caption, and to set one image as the Album cover, which will be displayed on the public profile. To delete an album or edit the title, description or album type, click on 'Edit Album'. To delete an image, or to edit a caption or change the album cover, click on 'Edit Pictures'.

All members who have access to your album images can comment on them, in a similar way to Visitor Messages (more info). You can delete any image comments from your albums, and report inappropriate messages to moderators.

When you have uploaded a picture, you can place it in your posts by using the BB code text that is displayed below the image when you view it at full size.

Hope this is helpful.

There are 5 levels on the forum - you are on the thread level right now. See
http://www.projectavalon.net/forum/s...650#post204650
to see how to get from level to level.

I left this post on the Free Computer Help Here-thread before, but it's been 'snowed under' a bit.
Here I saw some questions on how to start a new thread, so this is a re-post...

The easiest way I know how is click on the the FORUM link on the right side of the page....choose the forum in which you wish to post..

After you go there...roll to the very LEFT hand bottom...you'll see POST new topic link....then POST away

However, down on the left it says:

You may post new threads
You may post replies
You may post attachments
You may edit your posts

Could it be possible that this is because I registered at the time Avalon still had a paid subscription? I wanted to pay something, but couldn't get my PayPall working back then. Afterwards it changed to non-paid subscription...

Other reason, of course, could be that I'm a complete computernincompoop (luv this word :mfr_lol:)...

xxdA.

Here I saw some questions on how to start a new thread, so this is a re-post...

I checked. There is nothing wrong with your account.

There are some forums that only administrators can post to, and there are others that only moderators can post to. There was one that was reserved for the subscribers but that is soon to be gone.

In short you are fully able to post a new thread. As a test, follow this link, hit "new thread" and post a test thread. If I see it, I will delete it once your done, but as its the off-topic forum it won't matter too much if there is a delay

Here is the link to the off-topic forum where you ought to be able to create a new thread:

Thank you very much Anchor. I wanted to post since long, but every time I tried there was something that didn't work...

Most of the time I immediately went to 'Today's Posts'. As a crazy man I started looking for the New Thread Button...

I'm a little wiser now :original:

Hope it works, insj'allah!

Hello Anchor,

So I finally got my newborn thread and it's called Windowfarming

:band:.

Unlike the human counterpart it's not alive and kicking yet, but that might be because I posted it under the 'wrong' subcategory (PC --> Off Topic).

Can I switch it to where it belongs (PA --> Preparations/Advice) or is that something only moderators / CoPOS (Computer People from the Other Side :wink2:) can do?

xxdA.

Re: this thread for new members to leave messages if you having problems and need h

This is in regard to so many topics being posted that one might find beyond erelevant. Many posts in general discussion that should be in off topic etc. The important topics are being shuffled to the bottom. Of course I wont point any fingers. But read some of the topics in general discussion area. I mean seriously. I ask myself if these folks watch your interviews or have a question in regard to UFO's are Aliens at all. So not trying to offend anyone. Just pointing out the mess of silly posts that a far from on topic. More like a distraction from information that might help people.

LOL! If you want a post totally deleted just send a link to it to a moderator. You get a post link by clicking the number on the right top corner of a post. Now my name can sit here.
