Anyone in Auckland wanting to find underground shelter, check this information out with the council or maybe the Auckland War Memorial Museum. As a child during WWII I recall the location of two entrances to underground air raid shelters. These entrances were blocked up after the war ended but may still be able to be opened.

From Queen Street, go east up Wellesley Street. On the left is a building that used to be the library but eventually became the art gallery - if my memory serves me correctly. On the boundary between this building and Albert Park, there is a driveway which was access to one of the entrances.

For the other entrance that I recall, go down Queen Street from Wellesley Street to Victoria Street and turn right, go up the hill to the T intersection and straight ahead of you is where the entrance was. The last time I saw it back in 1974, it was a basalt block wall with seating along it.

I too am from New Zealand and have been following alternative thinking for 50 years! So I find this forum excellent. How ever we should probably remember that if enough people have fear and think negetively, then because we create with our thoughts, that we ourselves might bring something about. Just visulise only good and wonderful events taking place and try to stop being afraid. We live at the beach!

IF there's anyone in or around Christchurch who has a new agey mentality without being resentful about stuff i'd be keen to meet.
I know alot of good stuff and would like to reach other co-operative people who are trustworthy, constructive, positive and not confined to any particular box.

Hi, I hope this info helps you and other like minded people:
1. NZ is desperate for workers, so any nurses, computer people, even hair-dressers & their spouses & kids should get visas (if you don't have a criminal record, etc.). Check the list of required skills at NZ immigration website.
2. Become a student in NZ - find a cheap course (probably teaching english language is cheapest) and get a 1 year student visa. 1st semester starts around end of Feb, so get cracking now to get into 2009 Uni.
3. US visa waiver programme - 3 month tourist visa for All Americans(without criminal record, etc.). Use this if the red list people start getting picked up, or some other event tells you theres no time left.
4. Use immigration specialist for help if you can afford around $5000 fee. I guess it will be hard to find a good consultant, shop around.
5. NZ & AUS aren't tough with applying their laws - they don't bother to jail overstayers, etc. They just send you home - a process you can stall for 1-2 years. You will have to research all technicalities yourself. Don't do this ->:wall:

Warning: NZ wages & jobs are terrible - I couldn't find a rental house in the whole of the North Island for less than $185/w (even in dead towns). Parts of Wellington are the same price!:mfr_omg: Also, look up Pacific ring of fire & see how many fault lines are in the North Island, before locating anywhere. I personally think Australia is safer & the pay for workers is much better. I'm in Melbourne now, but I feel the need to leave as its on the coast, so I'm looking for somewhere inland like Canberra. Anyone feel free to PM me with q's.

Hi all, I feel I should post thse facts for groundcrew intending to move to the lower South Island: My American History lecturer told me that after the US Civil war in the 1860s, some Southern families moved to the bottom of the South Island of NZ (hence little NZ towns called "Gore" & "Clinton"). If you travel down there, the people talk with a quasi-American accent.
If ground crew move there - beware - you cannot life on a diet of rabbits. The area has 1000s if rabbits, so rabbit meat is plentiful. But it lacks vitamins and minerals needed for humans to live, so you can eat all rabbits you want & still die (the food codex people will be in ecstacy to hear this). Also, there is GIARDIA & other parasites in all streams. Apparently brought in by tourist's water bottles (But probably introduced on purpose to poison the water) so boil all drinking water. Finally, you cannot drink snow it will make you sick. It must b boiled first. Not to mention the cold winters, it snows most days & winter is opposite to the Northern Hemisphere. NZ winter is around June to August!!

I've thought carefully about posting this - and have now decided it is the right move.

I thought I should share with all of you that I contacted Maximise on here, regarding NZ ground crew plans. He was friendly at first, then upon viewing my website which outlines my artist/musician profile of a more spiritual nature - he outright judged me and said he wasn't interested in the kind of work I do, and that I basically wasn't welcome.

He then signed the email he sent me, LEADER, of some Aotearoa group.

I feel it is important that there is transparency, in these early formative stages...and we all need to be careful about who we associate ourselves with to co-create these ground crews & bases.

Personally, anyone calling themselves a leader, who judges others without even finding out about them directly - I would be concerned about their assumed role of "leader".

I am not interested in further fueling this conflict, nor having a public war with anyone. We have enough disharmony already on this planet. I approach people on here, for support, collaboration & co-creation. I don't believe it is acceptable for anyone to judge, exclude, or label THEMSELVES or anyone else. That's just continuing with old dysfunctional behaviours of segregation and EGO.

As I wrote to Maximise : "A united community presents an inpenetrable front against corruption."

I wish you all the best in finding the right leaders, and collaborators to work with - conscious, open, loving, passionate individuals all about working TOGETHER for a better world.

Keep up the good work Mulder. You are doing a great job of turning people away from South Island New Zealand. I quite like it being a best kept secret. The South is not overrun by rabbits! Some parts of central Otago have a rabbit problem. If you see it that way! I really like wild rabbit to eat. Snow in winter in the South is a relatively rare experience and the wateer is fine in most parts compared to most other places in the world. Our water is absolutely pure and free from all contaminants. And the people of Southland (Gore Clinton) roll their rrrrrs when they speak. Sounds more Scotish to me and I was born their.

By the way there is a back road between Clinton and Gore. An alternative route. Some wag renamed it the Monica Lewinski Highway.

Kia-Ora fellow kiwis. I am currently in Canada but heading back home to Nelson soon. I am thinking about finding a place to live in the Alps somewhere. Mabey around the Nelson lakes somewhere, amazingly beautiful place up there.. Lots of water. Well anyone else around this area or thinking of the same thing give me a buzz. ;)
