That sounds like an unusual experience. That leaves the mystery about the beer. Did your friends forget it? Or were they scared of the mysterious stranger? Getting lost isn't fun either.

All of my spooky experiences are ghost related. But somehow, it never frightened me but it would definitely raise an eyebrow or two.

I lived in an old victorian farmhouse that was built in the civil war. Me and my family lived there for 6 years. There was a great deal of paranormal activity in that house.

The original man that owned the farm died in a tractor accident on a hill. I found pictures of the same man in the attic. My mom was sleeping and woke up seeing this man looking over her. She remembered what he looked like and then recognized the man in the photo.

Another time, I was in my bedroom while my parents were gone. And I heard whistling and footsteps on the hard wood floors. I thought it was my Dad. No. I went down stairs and no one was there.

O.K. it was late summer in northern Minnesota, in what's called the Boundary Waters Canoe Area which borders Canada. My best friend Tom and myself had decided to go camping for two weeks and check out the whole northern Minnesota area. Well we decided to stop and camp in this campground that we saw from the road, instead of staying out in the woods another night. So we went in and got a nice site and pitched our tent and unloaded our gear and thought we would rent a canoe and go up this river that ran along this campground. So we talked to the guy running the campground and got our canoe and told him which way we were going and he said be very careful and watch out for moose because they can be very aggressive, just avoid them and bear also, if you see them just turn around. So we paddeled up the river for a long ways and actually went into Canada, but didn't see any bear or moose and the mosquitos were so bad that we decided to turn around and go back to camp. Well we made it back and started a campfire and made something to eat and started drinking. I guess it was about midnight or so and we had a pretty good buzz on by then and the fire was roaring and we were just sitting there being quiet for a minute,staring into the fire when Tom looked up and said in a quiet tone, DON'T MOVE, I could see the look in his eyes and I could actually here something breathing heavily behind me. I was frozen in time but had to turn my head slowly and look and here was the (or what I thought was) biggest wolf I had ever seen in my life standing about 6 feet behind me. Neither one of us moved or even breathed and I'm sure we both thought we were dead! The next thing is it started to move closer to us and came within 2 feet and we let out a huge sigh of relief as we saw a dog collar around it's neck and he came up and licked me in the face and hung out with us for the next two hours or so. Wow talk about close to a heart attack, the next morning we saw the campground owner and told him what happened and he laughed hard and loud and said that's just my dog Buddy and he is as friendly as can be. Well turns out that Buddy is part German Shepherd and part wolf and ways about 150 pounds, but looks exactly like a wolf! I'll never forget it, but laugh about it now.

i just started to write this post before, when my computer suddenly closed the avalon forum. while the other sites and my email were all fine..
..just have to try again..
as kid i fell down the stairs in a old town house. i don`t remember the falling (3years old) but vaguely remember standing in front of the stairs. my parents said it was impossible..i stood 1 meter away from the first step..they said i was being pushed by an invisible "hand" and "flew" down the stairs...oops! after that we moved to a new place. parents thought it "spooked" in that old house.

my high school teacher had us kids walk indian file with about 10ft separation around a really old church in eastern switzerland (graubünden) asking us to observe carefully and see if we notice anything.
at the tower of the church i felt like choking (breath got knocked out)..when we were all back together he asked about our impressions..it was all about the flowers, trees, birds, etc..after i told him, that i couldn`t breathe any more by the tower, he began to tell us about the church`s history, the inquisition and that witches got beheaded right by the tower of the church.
many years later i planned twice to visit that church again but something always hindered me ..one time, i got a warning by huge crow flying right in front of my car, almost covering my whole sight..shortly thereafter i crashed into some moron making a full stop in the middle of the road. another time my car broke down for good just before i wanted to drive there.
crows/ravens sometimes show some strange behaviour whenever i got something fancy on my mind. like when i experimented with my DIY single-tube cloudbuster à la wilhelm reich (it works)..all of a sudden 4crows would start doing confused aerobatics right in front of the cloudbuster and make a hell of a racket too. well the cloudbuster is also a strange thing..where i use it, the cut bushes recover and grow faster than elsewhere..birds seem extremely attracted to it, flying circles right above it and even a dozen herons started circling over my place. i`ve never seen more than 2 herons at a time before..wilhelm reich mentions battling "funny stars" (UFOs) with the cloubuster..(he thought, that UFOs in general brought "bad energy" (DOR) and were partly responsible for the expanding deserts)

i once met a swiss guy who knew of a deep underground base in switzerland?! all high tech, the underground tunnels having no visible lamps, just soft light coming from the walls. the description of the entrance to the secret facility resembled a bit the underground facility in the movie “andromeda strain” (the new one)..except that on the surface it looked like a "weather station" and there was no guard.
before i met the guy i had a weird dream of a werewolf coming for me . now, this bloke claimed to be in touch with lycantrophes, demon lords and reptilians?!..i didn`t buy anything he said.….but i have to give him credit for his excellent night vision ..and.. and a neat little story he told me, which happened to be the werewolve dream i had before we met……

this is not spooky but inofficial and OMG! during the gulf war swiss airforce jets escorted US transport planes coming from frankfurt main airbase? (germany) crossing over swiss air space to italy, heading for the gulf…the f18 pilots noticed the transport planes dumping a unknown liquid over the southern alps (when crossing over to italy) and their radio transmission got intercepted by a hobby-air-band listener…one radio chanel reported the incident a day later …nobody cared…. italian newspapers later wrote about a poor mountain-farmer (in the north of italy) who lost all his sheep ..his sheep all healthy and well ate grass in the morning… mid-day they were all dead…..the autopsy of the dead sheep revealed that the sheep`s brains had turned to liquid in a very short time!


at the age of 14 i saw a "funny star" in the sky, flying real fast and doing right angle turns, that would have to kill any living thing inside, i wondered if it was a UFO because at the end of the aerobatic freakshow it just blasted vertically into space! so maybe it was an alien space craft but i never saw an alien until i was with my swiss-ex-girfriend in probably the most shabby sex hotel called "new firehouse" in pattaya (thailand) i was reading courtney brown`s page turner (book) "cosmic voyage" (still wide awake due to "jetlag") ….so while reading in the middle of the night with the girlfriend deeply asleep, my eyes registered a foggy grey element floating 1 meter away at first slowly taking shape, then quickly turning into greyish alien head and torso facing me….it took 2 more seconds to do a reality check that this was not imagination because of the book! ..another 2 seconds later the inner sceptic totally gave up… I panicked! ( because it was so close!?) my panicky reaction must have been the reason why the alien instantly wanted out as well! (evaporated?/vanished) with a strange bang-like-noise…


when i worked for a security company, as guard in some old military barracks which got converted into a temporary drug-addict-prison one night, i was sitting in a corner reading a book, and every time i was "in the flow" of reading there would be a loud knocking noise in the massive stone wall behind me (there was nothing behind the wall((3rd floor)))..felt a bit strange, but i thought; "could be some static thing..?!"...after it went on for a while i began to feel a "chill", so i went to the tv room and joined the inmates..(i needed company)...all was pretty normal for a few hours, until i watched a drug addict sitting all alone by a big table, falling asleep over his cream soup , slowly diving his long hair into the plate!
i kept watching him...when all of a sudden another empty plate about 2ft in front of him slowly began to slide a from left to right (about 3 feet) ! i went to check if the plate was wet underneath, if the table was shaky, etc....nothing!...after this single unusual work shift i went home not thinking so much about what happened any more; i just wanted to have a warm cup of milk and then go to sleep..while drinking, i was listening to the news on the radio..and immediately froze, when i heard about a occult group (the sun temple sect) committing mass suicide that very night, by burning down a log house in which they stayed. which was somewhere in the hills of western switzerland..

Columbia university`s summer school new york (18yrs old me); i was on my way to visit a friend in Philly for the weekend; Penn station was totally crowded..while trying to find the right track i suddenly felt very uncomfortable; i knew somebody is staring at me and it was draining! so i turned around and immediately got mental flashes of some shapeshifting creature, just about at the same moment i saw that extremely skinny guy with one weird looking interconnected (left to right) straight eyebrow?! he stood about 20feet away, staring at me..i felt so awful and my mind screamed "vampire/werewolf/whatever! get away!"(i wasn`t concerned about these things at that time. i was cautious about thieves and muggers) ...anyhow.. i just wanted to run..and get lost..
so i did my best to get lost in the busy crowd and find my train..never saw him again........but not long after this "encounter" did i end up with my first and only seizure in a shabby new york hospital...

Hi everyone you have all had some real strange things going on.
I have lived in many scary houses and have seen many things but i will share something with you that my sister experienced in a house we lived in when i was just a kid.
My sister is a medium and has had many experiences but as halloween is coming along i will tell you about a dark spirit who entered our home with the devil's dog.
She was around 5 years old and was asked by my mum to go up stairs to retrieve a jumper. My sister who hated going up those stairs because of consistantly seeing strange things standing at the top, took a deep breath and ran all the way up, speeding into my mothers bedroom she grabbed the jumper and was just about to run back down when she noticed the letter box open on the front door.

Terrified that something was looking though, she waited for the letterbox to shut. It did so, her heart thumping she began slowly coming back down, when suddenly a sound rather like a deep growl left her paralysed 3 steps from the top.
A large black dog with red eyes appeared at the bottom of the stairs and a tall figure dressed in a black cloak and a tall black hat stood just in the hall.

Frozen on the spot my sister's mind was in turmoil, she had no escape, she knew our mother and grandmother was in the dining room which was at the back of the house but to get there she would have to pass this large evil looking dog and the scary guy standing next to it.

My mother called to my sister and she was suddenly shaken from her trance like state, the black dog was snarling and prowling around the figure in black.

Slowly and very bravely i thought, she took a slow step by step down keeping her concentration hard on the dog she made one final leap and ran up the hallway towards the back room where my mother and grandmother were sitting.

crashing through the door, she almost knocked my grandmother over in fear and tried to scream out.
My grandmother looked as my sister pointed down the hall.

Grabbing her my grandmother swung her around covering her face into her apron she said;
"What ever you do don't look!"

My mother jumped up from her chair to see what on earth my sister and grandmother had seen, but the evil trespassers had gone with a flash.

Grandmother consolled my sister and she cried sobbing into her apron.
My sister remembers that evil entity and it's evil dog entering our house that day it was one of many strange encounters.

My mother and grandmother would never speak of the evil thing they saw that day but both knew that my sister saw it.

Whether the figure in black and the devil dog ever returned i could not say because my mother and grandmother never spoke of it again.

One night a very long time ago when my sister and I were still kids, we were in bed goofing around as usual, not going to sleep. We were pretending we were very scared of the dark. Our parents were still downstairs. My brother was no longer living in our house, he was off to the army, and one of us said out loud, "we're scared of the dark. Somebody turn on a light!"

Guess what happened next? You guessed it! the light in our parents' room, on my dad's lampstand, suddenly turned on!

We never got under the bed covers so fast in our lives!

And then it turned itself off again just like that!

I don't know how this thread escaped me for five days. I love first hand spooky stories.

Good stuff so far, but, note to self: If I ever meet or cross paths w/ 371 in the real world, keep eyes on his hands.

Allright, I guess I'll post another scary camp story, but this one kinda just ends up w/ me and my buddy just looking like a-holes.

So a few years ago some friends and I went to a music festival here in MO, Salmonfest. It was held at a big campground called Bearcat's Getaway.

So the first night goes normal, music-party-stumble to camp.

The second night was the strangeness.
After all the music hand ended we were still raging at our campsite for a few hours. Eventually everyone but my friend Robbie and I, make their egress to their tents. Robbie says he wants to go for a night swim in the black river (no joke, that's actually the name). I'm 20 and stupid, so what the hell.
Strangely enough the swim goes just fine in the dark (I know you thought we were going down in the river..ha) and it was pretty refreshing as it was mid june I think.

The problem now was that we had floated aways down the river and got pretty lost. We stumbled along in the dim pre dawn light and found what we thought was our camp. Robbie unzipped the flap to our huge tent that we were sharing w/ 3 other campers. We fell down and went out like a lightswitch.

I woke up an hour later to a the shrieks of a 9 year old girl, and heard a bunch of scurrying. I was very confused and lifted my head to look to my left to see Robbie sleeping exactly as me, face down where we fell an hour before. I looked to my right next and saw a few pairs of legs and heard some muffled conversation. All I heard was, "Should we call the police?" and boom... I was on my feet. The people standing there turned out to be a single mother w/ her son and two daughters. We all looked at each other baffled for a bit until she asked if my friend and I were lost. Absolutley, I said.

We pieced together that we had actually floated down the river a quarter mile into the "family campground". I apologized about a thousand times and eventually the family was really cool once everything was explained and even made us breakfast (I still had to do all the explaining while Robbie slept!).

The scarriest part of the story though is that the family told us at breakfast that the night before, they were telling scary stories around the fire and one (that I can't quite remember) centered on two dead bodies being found in the trunk of a car. I can just imagine what me and Robbie must have looked like after partying all night, swimming in the river, and passed out face down in the foyer of this family's tent. I wouldn't have blamed them if they had called the cops, I'm just glad the little girls' shrieks woke me up in time to explain.

I enjoyed reading all of the posts. Mine is not as scary as some of the others but it was scary enough, to me, at that time.

My husband, daughter and I had gone to see The Blair Witch Project one Saturday evening when the movie was first released in the theater. None of us had told anyone that we were going so I don't think practical jokes were an issue here, but anyway, close to midnight that night, I thought I heard the doorbell ring. I went to the door and stupidly opened it, but nobody was there. So I thought I just dreamed or imagined it and went back to bed. The next morning, my daughter said she imagined she heard the doorbell ring and it scared her so she got up and locked her bedroom door. My husband didn't hear it but he hears N O T H I N G when he sleeps! That hasn't ever happened again, but it scared me, especially after seeing the scary movie and the fact that it was just a few minutes before midnight.

We lived a few hundred yards from an ancient Aunt, who was a bit spiteful, so we didn't visit much. One Sunday lunchtime, our big mirror in the hall 'lifted' off it's hook, and smashed to smithereens on the floor. Puzzled, as the hook was still firmly in the wall, and the chain on the mirror frame was intact - in fact the frame itself was fine - we had to start cleaning up. The mirror was an antique, and came from my old Aunt's family. About half an hour later, the phone rang, old Aunty had died suddenly half an hour previously!!! I guess she didn't like us having anything of hers then....


When I was at college, my friend and I lodged with a family, and had a seance one evening. A stupid thing to do really when you are 'unguarded'. Later that evening, as my roommate and I prepared for bed, (we stayed in a downstairs room), everything flew off the mantlepiece and smashed, then our french windows 'blew' open! There was no wind, our main door was closed!
We went to the cathedral the next day, and explained what happened. The clergyman asked us what the messages we received were, and we told him an odd name kept cropping up. He went into the library, and it was the name of something in the demonology book. We were exorcised, and our lodgings had to be 'cleaned'. Never meddle with seances!!!
