Default Carlos Castaneda

I'm reading the books of carlos Castaneda and came upon some wise words and wanted to share it here.

"When a man starts to learn, he is never clear about his objectives. His purpose is faulty; his intent is vague. He hopes for rewards that will never materialize, for he knows nothing of the hardships of learning."He slowly begins to learn - bit by bit at first, then in big chunks. And his thoughts soon clash. What he learns is never what he pictured, or imagined, and so he begins to be afraid. Learning is never what one expects.
Every step of learning is a new task, and the fear the man is experiencing begins to mount mercilessly, unyieldingly. His purpose becomes a battlefield."And thus he has tumbled upon the first of his natural enemies: Fear!

30 years ago, I was a young man, teenager, full of beans, crossed paths with an elder, she was lovely, invited me to her place, middle of nowwhere, no PH no power, no running water, completely isolated.

Second day I was there she handed me a book, 'The teachings of Don Juan' written by Carlos Castaneda, I read, I was hooked, I read several as a series.

This was a profound moment in my life. As a young man.

As the years went by, kiddies and mortgages arrived, I started to see the lessons I had learnt form the elder who lived on the hill. She had opened the door for me and I walked through, This was the beginning of my journey, I have never looked at the world the same again.

I send her thanks, all these years later, she is an old woman if she still walks amongst us. Her name is Annie Oaks. She started my journey, I am forever grateful.

Peace always.

Those books, at a young age, for me started a whole wonderus journey.

Hoax or not, didnt apply, as one path lead to many, call it a paradox? truth and false-ness can still have a very positive outcome.

In my case it was a blessing at such a young age.

Peace

I second Ross here ...Castaneda's book entered my life when I was 16..
they opened the gate to my spiritual journey . I have enjoyed everyone
of them and still do ..hoax or not they conveyed enough of a sense of truth
and wonder to keep me walking on my path.

Here is another great quote of Don Juan:

All paths are the same: they lead nowhere. However, a path without a heart is never enjoyable. On the other hand, a path with heart is easy—it does not make a warrior work at liking it; it makes for a joyful journey; as long as a man follows it, he is one with it.””

Love Always

i started reading don juan when i was 15, it really helped me to understand some things that had happened in my life up to that point. over the next couple of years i read the reat of castaneda's books......really they where a kind of guid, as at that point i was going along the path without the guidence of another. which really was a bit scary at times!
