Yet again, Thailand has shot itself in the foot.

Just when tourists and businessmen were starting to forget about the ridiculous airport closures due to protesting before xmas, here we go again...this time causing ASEAN leaders to cancel their planned meeting and be flown out of the country by helicopter..

The reputation and image of Thailand will be tainted for a long time to come as a result of this further disruption. Thailand once had a reputation for stability, not now though.

All the "protesting" is absolutely wrong. Whatever anyone might think about Thaksin, he was democratically elected, and because the elite, military, judiciary and unelected flunkies don't like the fact that his support base was the rural Thais (the majority), and that government money was going to actually HELP THE POOR...ouch, shame!..Give money to the poor??? What next????....they forced him out of government.

Now Thailand is ruled by an unelected guy who is protesting about mob violence when he gained office himself through the use of protesters. Something is badly wrong, and it is the fact that certain sections of people are using non-democratic means to hold onto power. Heard that before anywhere??

Thailand is a corrupt mess, and Thaksin will be back. The only question is when.

It's just like when they tried to force Chavez out of Venezuela. It wouldn't surprise me if the CIA wasn't behind it, just like everything else.

There are definately very powerful forces behind the Thailand events....all is NOT what it appears on the surface....big money (and lots of power) is at stake, and the old order will not go lightly. The surprising part of it is the involvement of the revered thai monarchy...not a good move on the monarchy's part as has been reported extensively in the western media. In the end Thaksin will return, and it won't be good for those that opposed him, and his friends in the rural parts of Thailand.
