Default No one in cockpit was asleep

http://www.chicagotribune.com/busine...,6664584.story
The first officer of the Northwest Airlines jet that missed its destination by 150 miles says there was no disagreement in the cockpit, neither he nor the captain was napping and the passengers were never in any danger.

But in an interview with The Associated Press two days after he and a colleague blew past their destination as air traffic controllers tried frantically to reach them, pilot Richard Cole would not say just what it was that led to them to forget to land Flight 188.

When my father flew L1011s and 747s they programmed the jets and there were check points throughout the flight. The plane could land itself when they reached their destination. I think most modern jets have this system.

This story seems very odd.

I certainly didnt know that they would land themself. if thats the case than it really is odd

From the article above...

"...The police report said that the crew indicated they had been having a heated discussion about airline policy..."

Well, I guess the 'Mile High Club' can be enjoyed by crew members in the cockpit now along with the head stewardess!!!!

Boy how time fly's when you're having sex!!!

Sometimes you forget where you are!!!
