Bloom box - Free Energy device on CBS's 60 Minutes
I couldn't believe it last night when I was watching 60 minutes and saw them do a full segment on a free energy device. Apparently the same guy who financed google has put 400 million dollars of venture capital behind this device. eBay, Google, Walmart and others are using it to help power their facilities. Sounds like it's in its initial stages and it may take a while for them to get a consumer grade product out but still it is very exciting news.
Video on 60 minutes about the Bloom Box http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?...in;contentBody Link to CBS 60 Minutes article on it with links to more videos that they didn't have in the TV segment http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/...n6221135.shtml Last edited by Abesters; 02-22-2010 at 10:16 AM. |

Interesting, tho it still needs fuel?
Google has been given the right to operate like an energy utility, maybe this is the reason why |

Did you catch the first thing he said?
He made a device for Nasa that could make oxygen on Mars! It looks interesting but i would call it the next viable stop gap between using fossil fuels and zero point energy. |

They also said that it can work off of solar and that the long term goal was to provide a household unit for 3k. In any event, It was very cool to see the next wave of clean energy come forward. It's about time.

Re: Bloom box - Free Energy device on CBS's 60 Minutes
A gentleman I use to work with called these "transitional technologies" the beginnings of "decentralized energy production"... note also that this tech can use hydrogen as a fuel derived from the grey water of your home and powered by the unit itself.. actually quite a simple system "piggybacked" one on the other. there is absolutely no reason that any home shouldn't be able to be powered by it's own waste from the last chamber of the septic tank .. the grey water with it's carbon content can be partially used to produce hydrogen and oxygen for a fuel cell.. the remaining grey water to water gardens then captured again after filtering thru the garden's soil to flush toilets... put this system in a room linked to your home and capture the heat generated by the fuel cell to heat your home (a well insulated home) .. nearly close-looped and only requires that the occupants of the home "poop" once in a while.. there's your carbon content.. breatharians can do it too they still gotta pee.. these systems should have been out ten years ago but because of the strangle-hold fossil fuel has on us it wasn't allowed to happen... note this system in the vidoe is still perpetuating the fossil fuel paradigm .. that is the only reason it is being "allowed" to even happen... enter zero-point
nice to see the inevitable at least start to happen |

High efficiency energy production. That tech just buys time. I will be impressed when they pull their heads out of their asses and produce a true free energy device. The orion project should have their prototype ready in a few weeks.

I too am awaiting (patiently) the progress there.. A lot of variables to consider.. ie: whose gonna control what.. and what is going to be allowed to happen.. I'll be quite surprised if "they" just let er rip.. I see a tug of war coming.. err .. already here come on zero-point!! |

Re: Bloom box - Free Energy device on CBS's 60 Minutes
Wow!
The idea is great, no moving parts, simple construction... I wonder if its quality to produce electricity wears of after certain time period? That would sit present day paradigm of consuming... Now if somebody would invent samekind of gizmo but so that anyone can make it and materials would be found everywere ??? Its so sad to see that a**holes in power had their fingers in this invention too and that they are gonna suck out every dollar they can...In other hand i dont belive that without their "blessings" this could come out at all... Peace and all that.. KF |

Re: Bloom box - Free Energy device on CBS's 60 Minutes
The BloomEnergy segment made actually watch 60 Minutes for a change. Seems like a positive change.
There is one concept related to 'getting off the grid' that has always intrigued me. Once the grid is not in use for transmitting electricity, it has incredible beyond-broadband communications ability. ConEdison has tested equipment (years ago) for sending data over power lines while they are still being used for electricity too. But if all that copper is not in use for electricity, it could be an already built, super-wide communications network. Once the old control paradigm starts breaking up the benefits will flow in many ways. |

If this takes off it could start a whole new industry and save the economy of
the United States. |

Re: Bloom box - Free Energy device on CBS's 60 Minutes
The title of the thread is incorrect. It's a fuel cell, not a free energy device. It does require fuel, such as natural gas.

Re: Bloom box - Free Energy device on CBS's 60 Minutes
Speaking of free energy, has anyone else been following Steorn's Orbo?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4Q3K...v=T4Q3Klq5dxM# I'd like to know what people think about their claims. It seems like they are as transparent as they can possibly be with their claims and their device is open to public testing until Feb 26th. Most people I've shown this too have dismissed it as a hoax without even looking at it because they're confident that no one can violate the law of thermodynamics. To them I say, well what are they demonstrating in this video then? What are we looking at? I receive no answers. |

You have to admit it's a step in the right directions. For 3,000 bucks I'de put one in my atic.
Everyone should e-mail this to their respective city councils. Once big industry gets behind it the units will get cheaper.....so long as they don't licence it out to big power. |

The Second Law of Thermodynamics is bull ****. Anyone who says it can't be violated doesn't know what it actually says. From Wikipedia: "The second law of thermodynamics is an expression of the universal principle of entropy, stating that the entropy of an isolated system which is not in equilibrium will tend to increase over time" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_...thermodynamics Notice the key term 'isolated system'. Lets see what that means. From Wikipedia: "Truly isolated physical systems do not exist in reality" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isolated_system That said I think that Orbo should just be open sourced... then everyone will know very soon whether or not it works. Until then I will just keep studying Bedini, Keeley, Meyer, Tesla, and Newman technology. I am grateful to Steorn for distracting attention from the much more useful free energy technology that is being released currently and giving it a bit of a chance to gain traction. And I don't mean this retarded Bloom Box. It is just an expensive way to keep sucking the oil/gas tit. Last edited by bluestix; 02-22-2010 at 10:47 PM. |

The hang-up is whether or not you believe their technology is doing what they say it is. I'm no electrician but as a layman their material looks pretty convincing. |

Or you can just download the plans for free from the internet. He has about 4 hours of DVD's explaining it all for about $30. |
