Exclamation Terrence McKenna - Ground Crew Pioneer.

Here's my thread for Terence McKenna, [who died in year 2000].

Please enjoy this wonderful man's articulate words if you've
not come across him before, and listen again if you have.
He was Ground Crew Pioneer.

Personally, i must admit here that i agree with pretty much every word this man had to say.
And he has more in common with, say, Bill Hicks, than you might think!

Terence Mckenna , (1946—2000), ethnobotanist , modern shaman , authority and pre eminent scholar in the field of natural hallucinogens , most notably Cubensis Straphora , travelled to the amazon basin with his brother Dennis Mckenna ( research chemist ) and together took part in a rather unusual experiment at LA Chorrerra in 1971, which adventure is regaled in his book " True Hallucinations " . The title of which suggests just some of the implications into the questions which were raised about the nature of reality .

"The world is made of language " , he is famed and loved for saying.

The mushroom ( the strophariad ) showed him that they had been dusted here by a previous intergalactic civilisation , had subsequently taken on the task of training us and changing us from apes to homo sapiens to space travellers and at the aproprate time ( the aquisition of technology ) they will give us the design blue prints to the light drive space ships in return for a ride to a planetary system closer to the centre of the galaxy. This very strange hallucinatory vision if it is true would place homo sapiens as the second most intelligent species on planet earth.

In " Food Of The Gods " he covers in more detail the gehstalt in which humans were shaped by interaction with cubensis straphora where in Eden , in the shape of the Tassili civilisation of northern africa humanity first took a bite of the apple (cubensis straphora) from the tree of knowledge and self reflective consciousness , language , religion , symbol/environment gehstalt , art etc were born .

Mckenna explored and expressd the nature of the hyperspacial object at the end of time which his mushroom vision had shown him in the book " Invisible Landscape " , which inspired his well known computer program " Timewave zero " , in which he also expanded upon the questions of madness verses shamanic reality in a typical spirit of open mindedness and curiosity .

He was an advocate of an " archaic Revival " in the sense that shamanic exctacy with its ego dissolution and the more environmentally connected philosophy of the indiginous tribes and native peoples of the world would be of great benefit and medicine to the over Yang`d nature of our out of balance western culture.

Bump to this Thread. Mckenna is insightful, intelligent, cultivated, creative and full of good sens. He is very important to me, in my own understanding of the Human family and the Universe.

His perspective is very very deep, be prepared to rethink the big picture.

Thank you for the links, Steven

McKenna can only be heard by some, and if so his stuff can really trigger one's expansion. My favorite TM subject is the "transcendental object at the end of time/event horizon". I think that is what most of us are seeking!

Also a good starting point for newbie's to McKenna is his talk on 'Culture is our Operating System'. That one really opened my eyes to some things!
