Is Smoking good for you?!
Hello.
Recently I have heard that smoking cigarettes has many benefits to the human body. Off course I dismissed it as nonsense but when i checked it out on the web i encountered numerous sites that claim exactly that. see here: http://www.forces.org/evidence/evid/therap.htm So, i wanted your opinion. Is smoking good for you?! And if all the research that claims smoking is BAD is another conspiracy then why? |

Smoking cigarettes is in no way good for you. Any info you find that says otherwise is probably paid for and planted by big tobacco companies.

So, I go back to my question,
If Smoking IS bad For you as we are tought over and over again. Why the governments of the world declared a war on smoking if they seem to profit so much from it? |

Re: Is Smoking good for you?!
Everybody is different, my aunt smoked for almost 60 years and she's now 82, with no health problems what so ever. I've known a lot of older people who have smoked their entire lives with no problems. On the other hand, I've also seen younger people in their 40's and 50's have all kinds of lung problems due to smoking, so everybody is different.
I don't like the fact that most of the chemicals they put in cigarettes are just to keep them burning, so they don't go out all the time. You can buy all natural tobacco cigarettes which aren't to bad, but if you set them down for to long they will go out. But is smoking good for you?, I doubt it, but to each his own! If they say eating chocolate chip cookies, pizza, and BBQ will shorten your life span then I guess I'll have a shorter life span! LOL |

Re: Is Smoking good for you?!
Cannabis = healthy mind, healthy body
ciggarettes? lol.. thats funny. i still smoke them though. lol.. doh! ifyou smoke cigs, you should get the all natural tobacco, and make them yerself with those machines , k? lol so... if smoking cigs helps keep us unattuned to 'mind control'.. cigs and cannabis... theres no way they are getting in there!! LOL maybe thats why they want cannabis to remain illegal and so DANGEROUS!!!!! lol helps you recognize BS. lol AND has many actual health benefits. lol an im with Kathleen. lots of stuff would be soo much safer today, and of actual benefit.. if it were not poisoned. |

Re: Is Smoking good for you?!
I have a theory that smokers get less colds and flu than those that don't, they want us to stop so that when they release the flu virus we all die.
But I'm not saying it's good for you. When I smoked I smoked roll ups which are not full of the chems that fags contain |

Re: Is Smoking good for you?!
As has been mentioned, smoking those store bought chemical rods called cigarettes are certainly unhealthy.
But as to whether smoking is good for us, I believe that it all depends on what you are smoking. I look at the mechanics of smoking much the same way as liquid, the substance goes into your body down your throat and absorbs within. My guess is that smoke reaches many more areas in the body directly and more rapidly then liquid. The only question I have is whether the burning of the matter kills anything that might be beneficial during the smoking process. From my vast amounts of personal experience with the intake of smoke, I'm leaning more to the belief that yes smoking can be beneficial to your health. But as the saying goes "watch what you eat", in the case should be "watch what you smoke". |

Re: Is Smoking good for you?!
i think it would be beneficial to differentiate between store-bought 20 cigs/pack and pure tobacco in non-rolled form.
i know if your schizin' out a good dose of nicotine will calm u down and helps to "ground" an individual. perhaps it would be a good idea to look into why native americans used tobacco for purposes of ceremony vs. the robotic way in which many people now consume store-bought cigarettes like zombies. is the zombie consumption consciousness to be partially blamed for sickness aside from the detrimental effects of smoking cigarettes? |

Re: Is Smoking good for you?!
Er - no!!! I have COPD from mercury poisoning as a child - I've only just found this out! Pinks Disease is due to mercury in teething powders in the late 40's/early 50's. I almost died.
However - the multiple vaccinations babies are now/or have been having lately contained mercury 'preservatives' - hence lots of autism, and very disturbed children. It's best NOT to smoke if possible, but if you're ill with some nerve generative disease, a little oral 'medication' - not necessarily smoked - will probably be beneficial. In years gone by, before the FDA 'Big Brother' clampdown, natural remedies included hemp oil - which eliminated cancers et al. The Big Pharma can't patent these things for profit, so hence the clampdowns... Just like Monsanto and the senator wife of Monsanto 'clamping down' on organic farming/growing your own... a human right. How sad does it get before WE ALL WAKE UP? |

Re: Is Smoking good for you?!
I think smoking is a sign of low intelligence... sorry if anyone here is a smoker.
I dont even want to be friends with people who smoke I find it that repulsive. I cant believe so many people still smoke... what do they get out of it?? They look like fools, smell rancid, and waste alot of money and time which is even more precious. Maybe I could understand if they were chocolate flavoured or something but they taste like ASS. Slow-motion SUICIDE is all it is. Last edited by Luminari; 04-17-2009 at 12:09 AM. |

Re: Is Smoking good for you?!
And my dad - who has COPD and congestive heart failure, and because of low oxygen to the brain, has symptoms of alzheimers.
And my mother who died of liver cancer in 2001 which was a secondary cancer. And smoked (and drank) all her life. Just curious, Kathleen, how many of those people are still alive, and how many died an early death - ie, before, say 90... And how many have had health issues that can be traced to smoking. alys |

Re: Is Smoking good for you?!
Ha! Sagan wasted all that time supposedly looking for alien life in the distant stars when they were here visiting the whole time, he could have gone into his backyard with a pair of binoculars and an open mind.. at the right time of course.
A great example of how a university education can make you less intelligent. Ive read 'Cosmos' and watched his videos, I do have some respect for the guy, don't get me wrong. Last edited by Luminari; 04-17-2009 at 02:02 AM. |

Re: Is Smoking good for you?!
Kathleen you are obviously a smoker then.
Do not be offended, I never said it was a 'fact' but it is 'my truth' based on the premise that anyone inhaling deadly gas into their body can't be that intelligent. Maybe I should have said 'Wise' instead (or am I digging a bigger hole here). OK SMOKERS YOU WIN, YOU ARE GENIUS'S LIKE EINSTEIN, FEEL BETTER NOW? I hope you can get past my aversion to smokers and still be cyber-mates Last edited by Luminari; 04-17-2009 at 02:20 AM. |

Re: Is Smoking good for you?!
Cool topic for a thread...
How about some interesting tid bits to add to the mix. Opium is added to the paper which is a neurotransmitter and increases mental alertness, sharpness, and psychic openness. Though taxing on the body to neutralize the toxins all the time, but think of it this way the body raises its threshold of tolerance of foreign invaders so it has an elevated 'on guard' (maybe an increased white blood cell count) attention in order to constantly rid the body of the toxins (though over time the toxins may win out if the person really lets there guard down). Compared to those who may not have as much toxins to get rid of- the body may get lazy or not be on as high of an alert to foreign invaders hence non-smokers may get sick easier because they don’t have elevated thresholds of immune response. Of course of those that quit smoking the biggest complaint is that they can't think or focus anymore... so could they if they just added neurotransmitter supplements until the brain began to produce them again normally, IF the right kind of neurotransmitters are available? Shamans use psychotropic’s from the Rain Forest and the are able to communicate with the other dimensions and actually get the answers to their questions through this method virtually anytime they want. It is the neurotransmitters that help them see differently but on a much higher potency level as that of opium or nicotine effects. Hence, why our history is full of pretty much every culture having peace pipe ceremonies’ involving smoking some form of tobacco or plant leaf (of course not corporately tainted)! Besides, every single plant on this planet is made out of sunlight converted into sugar proteins which have been converted thus by the chaotic process of photosynthesis- how do you think plants grow! So smoking 'plants' is smoking the Sun... sugar. And ya, too much of a good thing is never enough but smoking toxic substance manufactured by corporations is probably not a good idea. Many of the natural cigarette company’s were bought up by the bigger corporate tobacco companies. I have a big question... why is there such a powerful attraction, draw, addiction to smoking and the human body? Is it just simply a stupid bad habit or is there some other benefit from smoking that tobacco companies know about in order to attract/create smokers but they don't want anyone to know what that attraction is (I am not speaking of the addictive nature part of it) because they want you to have to buy cigs of course? |
