Default Happy Halloween 2008 - Give the Devil his due . . .

I noticed, on this the greatest of all hollidays, not one person here has started a Happy Halloween thread - so here it is:

Happy Halloween!

Some here may poo-poo such stuff, and if you do, don't be alarmed. The Yoruban tribes have an interesting view of the devil. When Catholic missionaries arrived and set up shop among them, they noticed that the Yorubans would give just a passing "yeah god," but pay big tribute to the devil - parades, ceremonies, etc. - all for the devil. Now, as you can imagine, the good missionaries were horrified by this and asked them why they celebrate the devil, but not god. A Yoruban explained, "because god will love us if we don't celebrate him - he'll love us even if we blaspheme him. But the devil is a selfish, jealous fellow; its best to keep him happy."

And with that, I am giving the devil his due.

Now, to YOUR homework:

If you are dressing up, take a picture, and post it to this thread. I will later on tonight, but it will be several hours before I'm dressed and have the trick-or-treating done. Now - get to it. You have liquid latex and fake blood to buy so you can slather that slop on, take a pictue, and show us your goodies (the candy you got, perverts).

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I am looking forward to watching my beloved "old-fashioned" black and white horror movies and giving out treats to the kiddos when they come by later on .

Wishing everyone a magical and fun Halloween and I am sending my very "beast witches" to all...

I saw your other posts there excali, you should have chosen a donkey instead of a goat - it would have been more appropriate.

As promised, my mug is below. The make-up actually makes me look better.

I'm using a **** camera, so the greens and reds didn't come out that well.

Anway, have a safe Halloween, and get your mugs up here.

I just made a bunch of teens who came to the door scream when I scared them (the girl was teary eyed).

What have you done? Quit being lazy. Get out there, scare the **** out of someone, and report back here.

For those who think the next generation is fuxed,

I just a kid come to the door, couldn't have been more than four or five. He asked, after seeing all my bloody make-up, "who did that to you? are you all right?"

His parents and I had a good laugh, but that was cool. They boy cared. I guess the violent video games and rap music haven't done their jobs.

Back to the trick or treat, more to come . . .

And where the heck are you all? Where are those pics? Where are the stories? Get with it folks.

Ten Signs You Are Too Old For Halloween

You get winded from knocking on the door

You have to have someone chew the candy for you

You ask for high fiber candy only.

When someone drops a candy bar in your bag, you lose your balance and fall over.

People say, "Great Keith Richards mask!" and you're not wearing a mask.

When the door opens you yell, "Trick or..." and you can't remember the rest.

By the end of the night you have a bag full of restraining orders.

You have to carefully choose a costume that won't dislodge your hair piece.

You're the only Power Ranger in the neighborhood with a walker.

You avoid going to houses where your ex-wives live.

HALLOWEEN DICTIONARY

Bobbing Apples: What happens when you leave your bra off while running.

Boogieman: Guy who passes time at a stoplight picking his nose.

Coffin: What you do when you get a piece of popcorn stuck in your throat.

Frankenstein: Hot dog and a mug of beer.

Full moon: What your repairman reveals when he bends over to fix your fridge.

Goblin: How you eat the Snickers bars you got for Halloween.

Invisible Man: What a guy becomes when there's housework to be done. Also, see "Mr. Hyde."

Jack O' Lantern: An Irish Pumpkin.

Jack the Ripper: What Jack does to his lottery tickets after losing each week.

Mummy: Who kisses the boo-boo after you scrape your knee.

Pumpkin Patch: What a pumpkin wears when trying to quit smoking.

Skeleton: Any supermodel.

Vampire Bat: What Dracula hits a baseball with.

Witch: See "Mother-in-Law."

Zombie: What you look like before that first cup of morning coffee.

I didn't get dressed up, but my kids did.
We were a house behind a kid dressed as a very scary looking Grim Reaper.
My 7 year old says, "Wow... we are following death. Guess we'll catch him someday, eh?"
I go, "Yep, we all will. Why sweat it now?"

I'm thinking the Sponge Bob crocs TOTALLY set off the Ironman costume.

And yeah, he is a little short to be a storm trooper.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Spongebob crocs!

Lady, you just made my night!

My wife wants me to post a picture of she and I together - I will later. We're still dealing with the trick or treat crowd, so I will do that later.

Love, and keep that Halloween stuff coming.

Sylph - that stuff was funny!

Love, and scary dreams . . .
