A New President, the Same Cause for Liberty
Posted by Anthony Gregory on 01/20/09 Last updated 01/20/09 Source: http://www.campaignforliberty.com/ So it goes. One man with a record of disrespect for the Constitutional limits on his power leaves the office of the presidency, and another takes over. Welcome back, conservatives. Most of you haven't been dissenters from the American government for almost a decade now. Some of you have begun speaking like Jeffersonians since Obama won in November, but I bet it will all be different in the coming months. Of course, many "conservatives" will stand by Obama, for their values mostly comprise "national greatness" –– i.e., big government and executive supremacy -- and the U.S. empire. But many more will now realize that the powers they were only somewhat skeptical about in the hands of Bush are too great for one man, and now the man is a liberal Democrat. (A few conservatives were always critical of Bush, thank goodness, but not nearly enough.) In any event, it is time to recommit ourselves to the cause of educating ourselves and those around us on the principles of liberty, free markets and peace. Go to the Campaign for Liberty Education section of this site and skim the wonderful bibliographies prepared by Tom Woods. Learn more about the issues, the history, the economics and the philosophy of liberty. The president may change but our principles don't. |

Young Americans for Liberty ~ "Change" We Can Believe In
Website: http://blog.yaliberty.org/ Out with the old…In with the same. January 20, 2009 at 8:40 pm by Blake Nicholas Article spoken at Video Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPj8mOdNDgU Young Americans for Liberty - "Change" We Can Believe In Posted by southernavenger on 01/20/09 Article at: http://www.campaignforliberty.com/ How the Ron Paul youth organization "Young Americans for Liberty" represents change we can believe in. Excerpt: Young Americans for Liberty is the continuation of the Students for Ron Paul organization which had established chapters nationwide during the election. While many if not most American youth remain sympathetic to Obama, this enthusiastic group of young libertarians and conservatives will spend inauguration day passing out literature on college campuses nationwide, explaining how Obama doesn’t represent any change at all. Calling the event “Real Change Requires Revolution” the group’s website states that Obama “promises more foreign intervention, more socialism, more restrictions on our civil liberties, and a greater disregard for the Constitution.” Last edited by peaceandlove; 01-21-2009 at 08:49 PM. |

Gotta love cynical people. They contribute nothing to the progress in this country.
Perhaps Ron Paul should put his money where his mouth is and share his opinions with Mr.Obama. |

Re: CONGRESSMAN RON PAUL on the Inauguration Speech 1/20/2009
Perhaps Obama should do the same. He got elected on the "change" ticket without ever really spelling out what change he was referring to- empty rhetoric that means anything you want. Oh, and he was financed to the tune of $2bn by the same moneymen and power brokers that backed Bush, Clinton, Bush Snr etc...
I heard a lot about truth, liberty and freedom yesterday. We'll know he was serious when he starts dismantling the patriot act and returns the freedoms and constitutional rights stripped away by Bush and his handlers, or stops America blocking UN resolutions against Israel, or stops arming the Israeli government with state-of-the-art weapons to bomb civilians, or orders a truly independant enquiry into 9/11, or admits the War on Terror is a lie.... Personally I won't be holding my breath. |

Re: CONGRESSMAN RON PAUL on the Inauguration Speech 1/20/2009
Hi Everyone,
There seems to be one small detail that seems to be overlooked here. I don't like to harp on about it, but his eligibility to be president is still in the balance. What does this mean? Simply that until this is sorted out, there is a risk that any changes in the constitution and/or law may be rendered illegal and become nul and void. The opposition will do nothing at this time to try and prove that Obama is not a natural citizen of the US, as the current economic, political and social situation in America, indeed the world is nothing more than dire. If he fails, he's a useless Democrat. If he's succesful and there is light at the end of the tunnel he could be an illegal president which tarnishes the Democratic party and new elections could be held to elect an 'honest' Republican. Of course I'm not an insider and we can only suggest ideas based on the information that we receive. But I must say this. In spite of the refusal to show a birth certificate, the blocking of investigations into school records and the refusal to name a hospital where he was alegedly born, I could be forgiven in thinking it most strange to learn that Kenya decreted a public holiday because Obama was sworn in as president of the US. Why? Because his father is Kenyan? Hmmm. Best regards, Steve Quote:

With all due respect Steve_A, if this eligibility business was as important as you say, something would have been done by now.
Honestly? I think it's nothing more than a smear attempt by people who do not want to see Obama in office. The fact that people continue to hang on to this shows that they clearly do not want him in office and nothing more. |

Re: CONGRESSMAN RON PAUL on the Inauguration Speech 1/20/2009
Hi Humble Janitor,
I'm sure you're right. There are people who don't share his philosophy and don't want him in office. On the other hand there are people who do want him in office and play the whole episode down. But this shouldn't distract you from the facts. Philip J. Berg put in a complaint to the courts, accusing Obama of not being a natural US citizen. Several times this case has been thrown out, not for the merit of the case, but for 'technical' reasons. The simplest answer would be for the real information be shown to make this Berg chap look an absolute fool, however it has not. On the contrary, access to this information has been blocked by the Obama side. Go figure. I'm not saying that he is, or he isn't. I'm not American and don't have a political agenda. However, if he isn't - it still hasn't been proven either way - I stand by what I posted in my last message and I feel it important that everybody be aware of a possible upset later on. Best regards, Steve P.S. Check this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWTs1YyhFRg Quote:

Re: CONGRESSMAN RON PAUL on the Inauguration Speech 1/20/2009
I will add this. I personally heard Obama's grandmother say he was born here (in Kenya) with the children in the background saying, no grandma, don't say that.
He was not born in the US and this is yet another illegal election as the last two were ballot boxed rigged as well. Our last elected president was Clinton. So it just goes to show it really doesn't make any difference anymore and our political system is so corrupted that it is now controlled by big business.

Ron Paul: Obama Hiding Big Govt. Ambitions
Source: http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/200...aul-obama.html January 21, 2009 12:54 PM ABC News' Teddy Davis reports: Former Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul has recorded a YouTube video warning (1st post on this thread) libertarian-minded Americans that Barack Obama's inaugural address amounted to an effort to camouflage his big government ambitions. "If you are honest with oneself," said Paul, "you have to say, 'I'm for more government.' Or: 'I'm for less government.' But he would like to avoid trying to be blunt and saying, 'I'm for a lot more government.'" Watch it here. 1st Post On This Thread Paul, a Texas congressman who raised $35 million during last year's presidential run, says that if Obama's views on government are not "socialism," they are "fascistic." During Tuesday's inaugural address, Obama entered a long-running debate over the role of government in American life by attempting to position himself between a view held on the right that "government is the problem" and a leftist view that "government is the answer." "The question we ask today," said Obama, "is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works -- whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified. Where the answer is yes, we intend to move forward. Where the answer is no, programs will end." Paul's video says that Obama's pledge to move past old dogmas masks his own dogmatic views about the capacity of government to create prosperity. "They talk about getting rid of the ideologues and people who believe strongly in something," said Paul. "But they themselves believe in something very strongly. They believe in government, and though it is camouflaged by his saying whether government might be too big or too small, we know what is coming: it is ideological. "It is a strong ideological position," he continued, "to believe that government can run things, because if it isn't socialism, it's fascistic and it's inflationary and it's control and it's loss of liberty. "So, we should not be feeling reassured," he added, "by any fancy words that we heard today in the inaugural address." Paul's video was recorded Tuesday in Texas. The YouTube link was distributed by Jesse Benton, the senior vice president of Paul's Campaign for Liberty, who encouraged reporters to "turn the volume to max" due to "a small glitch in our microphone." ABC News' Z. Byron Wolf contributed to this report. Last edited by peaceandlove; 01-22-2009 at 08:01 PM. |
