“Chandrayaan-1 has commenced its final journey towards the moon and will be inserted into the lunar orbit Saturday through complex maneuvers controlled by the Space Research Organization (ISRO) in Bangalore.” - S. Satish, ISRO Director India's Chandrayaan-I unmanned, cube-shaped, spacecraft will be inserted into lunar orbit on November 8. The mission goal is to orbit the moon for two years with eleven payloads to perform remote sensing. The United States designed two of the payloads. With Chandrayaan-1, India joins Russia, America, Japan, China and the European Space Agency, in unmanned lunar explorations. |
