Sounds to me like this is a plan to precipitate a push for the U.N.'s 'Law of the Sea Treaty'???

Apparently a number of countries are trying rescue operations. I just got a CNN blurb that

French hostage and two pirates die in rescue operation off Somalia's coastline, the French president's office says.
