Re: _AVALON LOUNGE_ Open 24 hours
Eh enjoying some hard cider and just mulling over a long week. I just barely started training to be a DJ at the college I attend. They have a radio station and the guy I trained with wants me to get this gig so I got some support.

Re: _AVALON LOUNGE_ Open 24 hours
Time for a little reminiscing folks. It was back in late 1950s and we had just bought a secondhand washing machine. The lid was a bit tatty, so I decided to paint it with a nice shiny, white enamel. It was a round lid so I started at the outside edge and slowly worked my way to the centre.
While doing so, I was listening to the radio. The particular programme on that night was The Goon Show where Eccles and Bluebottle were on sentry duty. Bluebottle asked Eccles what the time was and I finished up making an absolute mess of the paint job in the centre of the lid. White enamel paint over the black handle, and drips of paint on the kitchen floor. Why? Here's why . . . . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSSGiA4f5cs |

Hey t-bird you found the lounge huh, well here's one for the day......
A mushroom goes into a bar and the bartender says "we don't serve mushrooms here and you're a mushroom, you're boring!" and the mushroom says "no wait, give me a chance, I'm really a fungi!" LOL! |

Re: _AVALON LOUNGE_ Open 24 hours
It has occurred to me that some of you Avalonians may not be aware of this interesting site. Be aware though, that people will believe what they want to. Also, remember that we create our own future with our thoughts and beliefs.

Re: _AVALON LOUNGE_ Open 24 hours
Hey ALL,
Been a while since I've been in here, but great to see familiar faces once again. My turn to shout everyone drinks. I'll have a prozac cocktail myself. I'm waiting for rhythm, she's my date for the night. Have they finally fixed the Female toilet door or are ladies still getting trapped in there? Did they finally restock the ladies with some toilet paper or do they still have to do handstands in front of the hand drier? Please take care all. Best regards always, John Relayer |

Re: _AVALON LOUNGE_ Open 24 hours
Interesting Dan, it reminds me of a clip I saw some years ago where a passenger in an airliner, filmed an object that moved to the right in the viewing window and distorted then disappeared before actually reaching the edge of the window. Turns out it was nothing more than the tail plane being distorted in the curvature of the window.
Could the final part of this clip be a light flare distorting the same way? |

Re: _AVALON LOUNGE_ Open 24 hours
I'm not sure Brinty, I put it in Camelot-Ufology also and someone said it's all reflections that we see in the lens. But if it's taken from Hubble wouldn't you think they have the relection problem solved already? I'm still checking into it.

Re: _AVALON LOUNGE_ Open 24 hours
Seems like it Dan. But it's an amazing sight all the same. In the clips from January, just before Jupiter slides off to the right, there's a flare emanating from the left that looks just like a puff of cigarette smoke.
Now, I wonder if . . . . . |

Yeah there's just not enough info there, is that a CME from the sun? You just can't tell what's what.

Re: _AVALON LOUNGE_ Open 24 hours
Thanks Dan.. I watched an great documentary recently on the evolution of massive telescopes; http://www.demonoid.com/files/?categ...ar&uid=0&sort=
Journey to Palomar.. and the great astronomer HALE spent the last years of his life studying the sun and the spellbinding movements of its corona, him being one of the first people in the world to observe this phenomena up close. You would be aware Dan from your own research the surface of the sun is a complex and fascinating place. |
