I live in Quebec. Here is a page from the government of Canada about geomagnetic storms and the threat to infrastructures:

Preventative measures have been implemented to avoid events such as the 1989 Quebec blackout. System operators in Canada have developed and implemented procedures to respond to these emergencies, thereby reducing potential damage due to GICs. Since 1989, Hydro-Quebec has spent more than $1.2 billion installing transmission line series capacitors. These capacitors block GIC flow in order to prevent them from causing damage to the system. Hydro-Quebec has also installed monitoring equipment that spots voltage fluctuations and immediately notifies operators so that they may redistribute the load to other parts of the network. Additional protective measures include disconnecting the links between power grids, desensitizing automatic control systems, delaying power station maintenance and delaying the replacement of equipment. Utilities are also relying on space weather forecasting to help remain operational during geomagnetic storms. Operators can implement conservative operating procedures once they have received an advance warning of a storm threat.

What I would like to point out is that the threat from solar storms has been dealt with, at least in Quebec. However, I sometimes wonder about the depopulation agenda and each time I find myself thinking that they have to take down the power grids. With the Internet and all the other communication systems, you can't perpetrate a genocide in North America. It wouldn't work. Also, we know that the elite has to tell us in advance about the crimes they plan to commit. So if the grid shuts down tonight and doesn't come back, and if soldiers shows up at my door in a few days telling me to go with them as the electricity won't come back for months because of a solar storm, I won't buy it easily. Add the swine flu shot to the equation and it is just too convenient for the depopulation agenda... Even if there is a blackout from an actual CME...

When the sun is active, a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) can be launched off the surface of the sun and head toward Earth. This mass of plasma races outward at millions of miles an hour. CMEs aimed toward Earth can impact our atmosphere, with a number of consequences.

CMEs cause aurora, or the southern and northern lights, when they spill their energy into our atmosphere and excite particles in Earth's magnetic field. They can also cause power disruptions and blackouts. Besides causing geomagnetic storms, CMEs can cause radiation storms, which are dangerous for astronauts and damaging to spacecraft. These storms can administer high doses of radiation to astronauts living and working in space and disable communications satellites and other space-borne equipment.

When a CME rushes away from the sun, it plows into the solar wind, a lighter and slower stream of plasma constantly blowing from our nearest star. As the CME smashes into the solar wind, it causes a shock wave. A large enough shock wave will accelerate the electrically charged particles in the solar wind and give birth to the radiation storm.

Because not all CMEs create a shock wave large enough to trigger radiation storms, scientists have been looking for a signal to tell them which ones will or won't. Dr. Natchimuthuk Gopalswamy of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center and his team have identified "screams" in radio waves caused by the CMEs impacting the solar wind. They discovered the storms that screamed, or were "radio loud," produced radiation storms, while CMEs without a radio signal failed to generate that kind of storm.

"We can use a CME's radio noise to give warning that it is generating a radiation storm that will hit us soon," Gopalswamy said. "This will give astronauts and satellite operators anywhere between a few tens of minutes to a couple hours to prepare, depending on how fast the particles are moving."

Just found this .. The report was commissioned and funded by NASA in January 2009. Experts from around the world in industry, government and academia participated. Were they preparing us for this???

From Australian scientist on July 1, 2009: “Our sextant-orrery analysis for Parts I and II of Milk Hill still seems perfectly correct, showing sextant-derived altitudes of the various planets for a date of July 6 - 7, 2009.

My best guess would be that July 7th will somehow be significant in our planetary history - twenty crop pictures since April 23 - possibly for revealing the first signs of instability in our Sun, leading up to December of 2012. Hi Thunderbird...

We have had CME's in the past...I believe in 1859 it happened but we were not as clued into electronics!!!

Also I think another in the 90's...canada was mostly affected...the whole grid went down...thay have since spent billions for safeguarding against this sort of thing happening again!!

Scientists have said that if there was a CME one and a half times bigger than the Canadian one it would be a DISASTER!!

The other possible problem is that our magnetosphere may not be as strong as it has been in the past. This would allow more of the negative effects to damage our electronics. I'm watching the sun info as much as possible. Is there a better site than SOHO to get active movie type playback of the most recent information on sun activity?
