Re: What is LOVE?
Love is watching two birds on a tree branch nuzzling each other as they sit side by side.
Love is someone who stops to open the door for a mother loaded with grocery bags & holding on to her children Love is standing in the dawn hours on a spring morning, watching the sun rise, & smelling the perfumes of the cedars, pines, & grasses. my heart swells with love for all that is given to me in that moment. Love is my little dog who does circles of delight as I arrive home. Love is when a little child picks a flower to give to grandma Love is sitting still & just breathing when someone who needs me in that moment Love is having compassion for myself when I am not being all that I could be Love is stepping into anothers shoes to understand their pain Love has many faces, many facets.....love is magnificent Love makes the heart sing with delight Love is where we came from & where we return to Love is all there is |

Re: What is LOVE?
Love is a word meant to describe something that transcends language. It means many different things to many different people, but those who've glimpsed its essence are forever changed by it.
For me, love is balance, harmony, and mortal recognition of the force that some have chosen to call God, Source, Higher Self, Supreme Architect, etc. It is as if the Source emits a constant frequency that we can all access if we but balance our own microcosm. In much the same manner as a tuning fork, as we bring the universe within ourselves into balance, we resonate with the Universe we perceive to be outside of ourselves. Synergy manifests and we begin to perceive a completely different world. We need not fight the outside world; we only need to change ourselves. The rest will follow. Beautiful in all aspects... Are anger and LOVE mutually exclusive?

Re: What is LOVE?
My family pisses me off and makes me angry sometimes. I always love them. In fact, when they make me mad I go to them and say "I'm angry with you and here's why...."
They know I LOVE them - so it's OK. In fact, it tends to resolve a lot of situations when we don't take the anger personally. It's natural I think. I think the trick is to not take it personally. Then, there aren't any hurt feelings about it. It's like MAGIC |

Re: What is LOVE?
I've experienced a love so strong it has consumed me and always will. Today that love still burns as strong if not stronger than it did nearly 18 years ago even though we live in different dimensions

Re: What is LOVE?
Love is as critical for your mind and body as oxygen. It's not negotiable. The more connected you are, the healthier you will be both physically and emotionally. The less connected you are, the more you are at risk.
It is also true that the less love you have, the more depression you are likely to experience in your life. Love is probably the best antidepressant there is because one of the most common sources of depression is feeling unloved. Most depressed people don't love themselves and they do not feel loved by others. They also are very self-focused, making them less attractive to others and depriving them of opportunities to learn the skills of love. This has been proven here this week at Avalon. There is a mythology in our culture that love just happens. As a result, the depressed often sit around passively waiting for someone to love them. But love doesn't work that way. To get love and keep love you have to go out and be active and learn a variety of specific skills. Most of us get our ideas of love from popular culture. We come to believe that love is something that sweeps us off our feet. But the pop-culture ideal of love consists of unrealistic images created for entertainment, which is one reason so many of us are set up to be depressed. It's part of our national vulnerability, like eating junk food, constantly stimulated by images of instant gratification. We think it is love when it's simply distraction and infatuation. One consequence is that when we hit real love we become upset and disappointed because there are many things that do not fit the cultural ideal. Some of us get demanding and controlling, wanting someone else to do what we think our ideal of romance should be, without realizing our ideal is misplaced. “When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.” - Jimi Hendrix Love always

Re: What is LOVE?
How far does it go? Should we be willing to die for someone we LOVE?
I say YES. I would die for anyone I LOVE. (I'd also kill to protect anyone I LOVE) |
