About the BS Recorder theres a simple solution http://theironlion.net/blog/2009/07/...no-pad-jaunty/ For drum machine on Linux, i Recommend TerminatorX like drum machine A better Ubuntu version for musician is "Ubuntu Studio" that comes with settings special for art workers, 3d digital production and Djs and musicians... About the "version" Vega is focused on the daily work Pc user, who chats, surf internet and work with documents, download videos and end user activity. Regards P. |

Re: Time to liberate our computers in a massive way
Thanks Pablo;
I'm interested in trying it. I'm buying a second computer soon (used, from a friend). My existing computer still works but has some issues. I could set it up and try it out on my current computer. I don't like Windows and have often considered LINUX but I don't have the know how.....yet! Much appreciation for all your help. |

Great video Pablo, you sound very genuine.
BTW, you also remind me of Antonio Banderas' accent! Thank you for your dedication and hard work. It's really appreciated. Love and light, Dan |

Re: Time to liberate our computers in a massive way
My "other machine" is an Ubuntu Linux server machine.
Yeah, I'm a 'puter geek, but that isn't necessary. If you want my opinion, if Ubuntu Linux was what everyone started out on, Bill Gates would still be working out of his mother's garage. just chiming in, here. Good luck with it, Pablo. Fred

I just come across topic post this evening and I would like to thank you for everything that you are doing. I really enjoyed watching your video and I am looking forward to downloading this linux operating system. I was a little bit familiar with open source software and after you explaining it to me better I would really like to get setup this way. I do dream of a better world, and open source software free to all driven by us the people and not private corperations is the way to go. There should be no such thing as pattenting inventions and ideas to help humanity and using that pattent to supress humanity... we live in a shared world and ideas and information should not be bought or sold to the highest bidder. Just because someone else has an idea before you shouldn't mean that they own that idea or thought, we should all share ideas and grow and better ourselves as human beings should. love smat |

Re: Time to liberate our computers in a massive way
Hi all
I couldnt post last night because i am working hardly on Vega. So this is an update of the upcoming. i supposed that the system will be ready for Monday if not on Sunday. Some issues about Vega 1.0 beta Codename: Alex As u know on geek jargons, theres "codenames" to give a "secret name" to each project.*I.e the codename of last Ubuntu is "Karmic Koala". So the codename for this first version of Vega will be "Alex" in recognition of the work of Alex Collier. The software included Internet Mozilla Firefox ( web browser ) Emesene ( Msn chat client ) Pidgin ( multiprotocol IM ( including facebook chat ) Miro ( for download movies, and tv shows, with rss suscription) Vuze ( a powerful bit torrent client for download stuff of any kind ) Video downloader ( a tool to download directly to you machine any kind of video from famouse video sites like yutube, vimeo, blip.tv ,etc) Skype Office OpenOffice ( alternative to Ms Offic with support of Office 2007 formats ) Pdf reader Thunderbird mail client ( like outlook ) Multimedia Mp3 and cd player last.fm and other online player service shoutcast ripper video converters DVD creator DVD CD writer Multimedia center ( as the *dows feature ) Look & Feel Elementary tools ( simple, different but very easy to use...) So this is the news... keep on working... regards P. |

THe minimum requirements are Pentium IV 2.4 or AMD semprom 2300 and up 512 GB or ram to run the system, but for perfect work i recommend 1GB 10GB free space a DVD deck or a usb bootable motherboard... 64MB of video card Regards P. |

First I just want to change the 512 GB to a 512 MB, cause if your puter has 512 GB...I WANT IT I have a laptop and the last time I installed Kubuntu, I was really happy with it. But I went back to windows because of some drivers and apps that I didn't find or didn't work. LS |

Yes, unfortunately Kubuntu really "sucks", the best Kde desktop on earth is, openSUSE so far... Vega is based on GNOME 2.28 adapated with Elementary Tools to make the experience more easier. About drivers, you can get more drivers if you use non oficial repositories like medibuntu and getdeb repositories... As i said, my dream is not say the people "leave behind Windows" i still use windows for music production offline, and djing in some situations, but the purpose of this desktop is replace and give more secure access to the internet . As Alex Collier says, such a kind of "dimention of knowing" As an speculation, after the release of Vega, will be a lot of work to do, hope to be in the high state of the circumstances regards P. |
