Being humble - a key to eternity
What it means to be humble?
What does that statement carries on itself`s energy? Does that mean when you are humble that you are mere slave or a servant? Or is it something completely different than many of us (including me ) think? We are born into this world with a scream on our mouth. WHY WHY??...When we die we do scream again WHY WHY?? Somehow it all seems complicated. It`s like all odds are against us.From the day we are born to the day we die. We have been taught from early on that we should never bow our head to anyone. Later on in schools and colleges we are taught that our country or club or family is the most important thing in life and that we should never bow to anyone beside them. WE HAVE BEEN TAUGHT. Do you notice that? We have been constantly taught something. How many times any of us felt that we should act differently that we`ve been taught? How many times in our lives we diminished that inner voice who`s been telling us truth? I know I did several times. I noticed that I always regretted it. Now ,as we are living in times of revealing ,we face things that were unimaginable to our parents ,not to mention two generations before our parents. Suddenly in a span of 70 years we faced huge changes in our environment, habits ,people ,views. We finally grasp bigger picture . SO few did it in the past. Bigger picture is that we, our mutual origin is not on this planet. We are born in heaven. Now as every single thing today is twisted ,so is a term heaven. It simply means - Universe or a place in universe with ultimate beauty. Our Creator made us according to his image ,whether we acknowledge that fact or not. We rebelled and questioned creator and his will and right to impose rules and laws. We did strive to be independent and that WE decide what is right or wrong. We created evil spirit of mutiny ,deceit, accusation, greed and all evil and gave it humongous energy. We decided that we will going to do whatever we please . And we were allowed to do so. But as we did not created universal laws of truth , wisdom, light and love, nor we had power to create Universe ,all came back on us. We sowed evil pride, lust, power thirst, destruction, death ...and we reaped its fruit. That is visible on every corner on Earth and Universe. Who knows how many galaxies and Creator deeds we polluted in our blind rage. But in his mercy ,Creator gave us a way out of this state of mind and actions. He gave us a wild card. His own son. The very first being that was created in Universe. The very one who was Creator`s master architect afterwards. The very persona of Creator and true image of his being- Jesus Christ. Now I know that many do not believe that. And I respect your view. But for now swallow this statement and continue reading. Beside many examples that Christ gave us , one that is particular here is being humble. Please read this story and his example : Gospel of John chapter 13 1It was just before the Passover Feast. Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his love.[a] 2The evening meal was being served, and the devil had already prompted Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, to betray Jesus. 3Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him. 6He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, "Lord, are you going to wash my feet?" 7Jesus replied, "You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand." 8"No," said Peter, "you shall never wash my feet." Jesus answered, "Unless I wash you, you have no part with me." 9"Then, Lord," Simon Peter replied, "not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!" 10Jesus answered, "A person who has had a bath needs only to wash his feet; his whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you." 11For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean. 12When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. "Do you understand what I have done for you?" he asked them. 13"You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. 15I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them. Now ,I do not need to further explain above text. I just ask any of you who will read that to read it without prejudice. Christ essentially gave clear example that if he as Lord of Lords can do a servant job , who are we to be foolishly proud against any other people? Never forget that a day comes when we will inherit the kingdom as Christ promised to people. But before we can inherit that amazing thing, we must learn humility. Creator will never ever give anything of such enormous value to stubborn and foolishly proud people. And for the end of this long post, is being humble actually an obstacle to us? I think no. Do that make you a servant or less important in universe? I think no. If that important person was first to teach me by his acts of what is a real value in entire universe ,then who am I to oppose that attitude? I am learning daily that being humble opens windows of amazing things, growth in every field of life. I learn that if I be the first to humble my self and admit that I do not have all answers and knowledge, then I will actually learn stuff that was locked and forbidden for many. So- being humble , is it a key to eternity? Is it a key to a stars? Is it a key to all knowledge in universe? Is it a key to happiness ? Is it a key to meet Creator and be immersed in his love, light, wisdom and truth? I think it is. |

Re: Being humble - a key to eternity
Thank you Beren for posting in full Christs words.
Humility works in this world and is very powerful. Every person in recovery from any form of addiction who is on 12 step program will have seen in the steps of the program the need for humility the program is very explicit dependence on the drug or alcohol is removed by the humility to ask God for help which is always given. Millions are sober in the true sense of that word throough sincerely asking for help and following the steps then as a result of a spiritual awakening carry the message to still suffering alcoholics. That is the love of God in action. But we must sincerely ask with the knowledge that we are powerless over the addiction without the help of God. You could say that addiction, the wanting more and more, is also an attribute of the ego, and only God can remove the ego. We take 100 nsteps towards God and He will take a 1000 towards us. As we have free will we must ask, God does not force or push. Tremendous power in humility, it takes courage to surrender to the will of God,to align with His. When this is done we are free to be what we really are, moment by moment. So loving God is very practical NOW in this world and ever more so true at this time Thanks Beren Chris |

Re: Being humble - a key to eternity
To me, being humble has no religious origin. It's just to live life and treat people the way you'd want to be treated. To have respect for others that you know. To live by a code. Etc.

Re: Being humble - a key to eternity
Within trillions upon trillions of stars we are but a speck of dust, yet we are part of the trillions of stars , worlds. dimensions and parallel universes. Because of the many unknowns we have to remain humble. The more I learned the less I know, for knowledge is infinite yet is simple as it connects you to the origin of all that is, past, present and future. In trying to find absolute truths we have committed many mistakes by condemning others in the process of our search for the so called truth. For me it is enough to know that the origin of all things is within each and everyone of us and because of this I am humble by the beauty of all that is and I ponder at the possibilities of all that could be.
Ah humility for it is in the knowing that I realize how little do I really know and how much I have yet to learn, perhaps a million lifetimes more, perhaps a trillion. May our journeys be full of love, compassion, forgiveness and joy, may it connect you to the origin of all things in ways we have yet to imagine. Blessings to all ... |

Re: Being humble - a key to eternity
hi beren, nice to see this thread, thank you!
By being humble, we do not expect, we do not force, we let be. I would like to quote George Arliss, as this sums up my feelings on being humble. "Humility is the only true wisdom by which we prepare our minds for all the possible changes of life." Sounds kind of fitting for today's world! love & light |
