Water and Energy
Invest in an MSR Miniworks water filter; filters up to 2000 litres, you can filter absolutely scummy water, it filters bacteria, parasites, fungus, and the filter is easy to clean. About $150
It is possible to harness some wind energy using nothing but garbage and hand tools. But you need to know the basics: Learn about wind power: http://www.velacreations.com/chispito.html http://www.otherpower.com/otherpower_wind_tips.html http://www.thekevdog.com/projects/wind_generator/ And electronics: http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/index.htm I have more links if you want 'em - MGC |

Re: Water and Energy
Water filters and purification tablets can be invaluable. For about the same amount of money you could build a small still from an old pressure cooker, a radiator and some fittings and tubing. I've just started working on combining this simple still with a solar oven.
By the way MCG, those are great links! The page on electronics looks especially useful to me, as I need to learn about it from the ground up, and have never found anyone to teach me. So thanks! Last edited by whitecrow; 11-11-2008 at 07:01 AM. |
