Minty Forum Skin - New Posts Problem and COOL on the eyes.
I use the "minty" forum skin, rather than the default "Avalon Electric".
Much cooler on the eyes! New Posts are just fine but when I switch to Electric I see what everyone is complaining about. The switch button is on the bottom left. When in Minty - the button is on the bottom right. In Minty "Today's posts" is the first option under the "quick Links" button at the top right. And all appears fine and normal. If you can't read some of the lighter type colors, just select the area, or Ctrl A for "select all". Click on the page to make the select go away. Try Minty Skin and see if the same happens for you. And then pretty soon Gareth will come around and can fix it. Karen |

Over in the Avalon Lounge thread Bushycat just gave me another clue on the new posts problem that is being reported.
You can stay in the Avalon Electric skin, click the "Quick Links" button and from the drop down menu, your first option is "Today's Posts." And that works like we have come to expect when you click "New Posts." |

Posted by Alycat to another thread:
The new features are actually the ones I'm used to in vBulletin - partcularly in the electric skin/ Click on New posts and you see the new posts since you last logged on, and then you see posts that are recent that have had changes that you haven't viewed. I'm guessing based on your USER CP designation of how many days to cover. This was the way I did it as a moderator of a pretty active site. (not this one) This has been a delight for me, but for others who are used to something else, probably not so great. This lets me know exactly what has been changed since I last logged on, and at the same time, if I didn't choose to view a thread on my last login, it posts it at the bottom. To get rid of all of it, when you login to the main part (which shows how many users are online) you can choose to mark all threads as read. alys |

When i first joined the resarchers team, Carol sugested that i switch to Minty for that very reason, easy on the eyes. I can vouch for it as i have spent many hours infront of the screen.

Yessir Henners, I couldn't have joined the mod team without Coolio Minty. Bill told me about it many moons ago when I registered my complaint with them. When I use Avalon Electric Blue and look away from the screen, I see black stripes across my field of vision.

Re: Minty Forum Skin - New Posts Problem and COOL on the eyes.
I use minty too, because I find the Blue skin hard on my eyes.
The only problem is that come text colours that show well in Blue skin, are almost, or entirely impossible to read in minty, because it has sort of a light beige background. So if you select white text in blue skin, it's completely invisible in minty. It just looks like you forgot to type and hit send (submit). Other colours that are hard to read in minty, but that seem popular in blue skin users, are yellow, and light blue. If I come to a post that has yellow text, I just have to automatically skip it, because it doesn't read well. You can highlight the text to make it visible, but that doesn't always work either, because if the text colour was light blue, my highlight colour is also light blue, so invisible again. I recommend everyone scrolling down to the bottom of the page and finding the skin button. I'll be bottom left or bottom right, depending on which skin you now use. Just select the other skin from the drop down menu, and check out some of your posts to see how they appear to the users of the other skin. I'd like to be able to read everyones posts, but I've found I just skip posts I can't easily read, because there are so many that it takes a lot of time to be constantly highlighting or changing skin colours back and forth. There are also some posters who will use 3 or 4 or even more colours within one post. That might look cool in the skin you are in, but it can be a nightmare in the other peoples skins. |
