Corvo, excellent post! After the initial shock of our situation wears off, people really do need to take their existence seriously and your list goes a long way in this effort!

Well said!! I cannot stress the importance of knowing your LOCAL medicinal and edible plants and trees. Inner cambium of many trees makes nutritious flour.

I think that is a pretty good list of supplies that a family should have on hand. We personally have a lot of the supplies that were listed, the rest we are working on. Although I know the importance of being prepared for as many events as possible, I still have to keep questioning if I am totally nuts for stocking all of this stuff.

Peace

Jay

Good list but don't forget the gun! I'd like to see people try and hunt with an axe, or a knife, or even a bow. I don't care if you're scared of them or not you're going to need one, because they're a very important tool, so get over it. Also you don't need a gas stove or any kind of stove, that's what a fire is for! And I could take a bunch more stuff out of that list that you're not going to need, so as to lighten the load if you're mobile.

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post, but if you can help it will be much appreciated:
I'm trying to find out if there is a food that can provide all needed calories, nutrients, and vitamins (I already know how much water to drink, so lets concentrate on food). From my research I found we need salt to live. Other than this, a good multi-vitamin tablet and honey seems the best all-round food and it will last for months/years if stored properly. The probelm is we will feel hungary as we are used to a large plate of food - can we do anything about the hunger pangs? Can we live for weeks on my proposed diet of vitamin pills, honey and salt? (I assume I will be able to hunt or fish so I can have some "full" meals as well). Is there any better staple food? Please advise.
