Re: Kansas City to Close Nearly Half Its Schools
I don't know about the KC school district, but i do know that the Blue Valley SD had a meeting this week to decide on reducing schools... however they are still going ahead with the construction of a new high school...
will see if i can get more information from the horses' mouth... |

Thanks xbusymom, A friend received a $2600 grant recently for agreeing to teach in poor schools for two years, but if the schools are closing I wonder if she will have to return her grant. Her reasoning was she needed a new job and she needed $2100 by the end of this month to pay her property taxes. She put her house up for sale over a year ago and NO BITES. Her current job is in Commercial Real Estate which is not paying anymore. PaL |

Re: Kansas City to Close Nearly Half Its Schools
yep there is talk of quite a lot of KC (kansas city limits- not the suburbs other districts) schools being shut down- but at this point, no one knows which ones yet- (most likely a shuffeling and condensing which will require more bus routes)
or how that will affect the surrounding districts... * special needs teachers / para(s) are always needed and demand for them looks like it is on the rise* and if she has a desire or gift for it- she might consider transitioning to alternative schooling/tutoring for special needs *since the schools don’t really make a lasting impression with the kids* (ok, I will refrain from my soap-box speech, but I would love to hook-up with a credentialed teacher in/for that avenue-I have ideas, experience but no “paper”*** hehe) another article with a few more details- http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100311/...losing_schools school district links- of the metroplexes’ different districts (most of them) North Kansas City schools (will keep schedule next year (2010-11) for High Schools while further ideas are explored)- http://www.nkcschools.blogspot.com/ Kansas city , MO (is having their board meeting on Mar 18)- http://www2.kcmsd.net/Pages/default.aspx Kansas city, KS - http://www.kckps.org/ Turner school district- (KS) http://www.turnerusd202.org/ Shawnee Mission-(KS) http://www.smsd.org/ blue Valley- (KS) http://www.bluevalleyk12schools.org/ Independence (MO)- http://www6.indep.k12.mo.us/ Park Hill (MO)- http://www.parkhill.k12.mo.us/Pages/default.aspx map of schools (KCMO)- http://www.city-data.com/school/Kans...-Missouri.html map of schools (KCKS)- http://www.city-data.com/school/Kansas-City-Kansas.html Olathe (o-lay-tha) (KS)- http://www.olathe.k12.ks.us/ hope that helps... Re: Kansas City to Close Nearly Half Its Schools
Thats a good thing -- less indocrination, less conditioning, less suppressing kids from having any fun...
its a joyeous occassion anytime a school closes down... ask any of the kids |
