"Leonid over Mono Lake"
Wow! I love this one from Astronomy Picture of the Day, November 19, 2009. The location is the eastern Sierra Nevada mountain range of California, U.S.
The word "Leonid" sent me to the dictionary. It's a falling star from a meteor shower. Here's the link: http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html |

Re: "Leonid over Mono Lake"
Hehe I drove by that a couple months ago hitchhiking. Beautiful spot. We watched the Leonids all last night. One crashed actually near us in Morro Bay, CA over the Pacific and it lit up the sky like lightning.
