Ah.. freedom... freedom from fear... the stories on Avalon are becoming a little predictable for my taste... I'm sure I could almost write a guide book on how to make a good one...

1) Pick something people are afraid of.

2) Tell them it might happen.

3) Judge the distance between imagination and reality. If you judge it right, it will be unbelievable enough to be interesting and exciting, yet real enough to be taken seriously

There is so much scope to choose from.

All these stories place our mind and hearts in a place far far away from self, in the hands of the person with the info, or focused on the perpetrators of the story.

Yet, with freedom, YOU are the perpetrator. YOU are the one. It's no one else's freedom. It's yours. It belongs to you. But we hold the key, without awareness, there is no freedom, we remain in chains.

So keep the freedom thread flying Oliver... until people drowing in wild imaginings find out where they've put their keys.

To freedom !

Thanks, Kulapops,

I am keeping this thread alive exactly because there is so much minor stuff on Avalon (but excellent one too), so we could have this essential impulse of Freedom in front of our eyes..and noses.

I do not judge, everyone should follow his own path, but, hey, let us not forget some universal values! Different trees are beautiful, but they must not become an obstacle to see the forest...

So, welcome again, Kulapops!

Nice poem, Morguana. Thanks.
This period of time am going to hill`s forest every second day, there is a tiny wild path and one can hear only the birds chirping, but their voices are just accenting the liberating silence of feeling free, and free...

...till the return to the "civilization"...

We must believe in free will.
We have no choice.

- Sri Swami Sivananda

(...This really makes me thinking...Once, few year ago, in an art-project, i wrote a sentence/verse: "Freedom you need, but from the free will, not from anything else, kid". Every time I see these words, or recall them, I am asking my self why did I wrote this, actually, what was the process inside me that pushed me to express it...and I have no answer. I mean: what if it is true, if we really have no choice? Every "must", as in Sri Sivananda`s quote, makes me to have a resistance...I mean: it is a paradox - free will and having no choice?! But, I am noticing a tiny, but essential irony in his words, even a kind of a bitter feeling, i would say. I can almost see how his eyebrow is significantly rising up while he is telling this, in the past. Hmmm... he touched the Very Nerve, I believe...)

Melody Hogan - No more!

Author`s thoughts: I've heard that long after prisoners have actually been set free, there can still remain the phantom feeling of shackles around their wrists and ankles. The mind and senses are struggling to accept the change, and therefore continue to reproduce the sensation of bondage even though the chains are not there.

The same is true with the issues of the heart. Sin can take a devastating toll on our lives, oftentimes convincing us that we'll never be free from the power of its grasp. Even the restraints that held us captive take on a seductive familiarity. We may not know what true freedom feels like, but at least we know the comfort of our own slavery. Twisted perspective, but true.

For some freedom can be an uncomfortable, scary place that holds no solid answers, but lots and lots of questions.

"Will it last? Am I finally free? What if I can't resist it? Who am I without it? What does real freedom even look like? Is there something wrong with me?"

It's intimidating at best...and sometimes it feels safer to turn tail and run back to the thing that accepts us, rather than brave the harsh realities of the life that's so publicly rejected us.

...and then sometimes...it's just best to hide ourselves behind the armor of our Defender and shout over His shoulder, "YOU DON'T HAVE ME ANY MORE!"

He will fight for you.

The Divine Plan is one of Freedom.
The inherent nature of man is ever seeking
to express itself in terms of freedom,
because freedom is the birthright of every living soul.

Long time ago, this poem was my first soul lecture of why and how to love humans and to believe in their potentials. I was searching in my life, and thanks to the Creator, i was finding a lot of these characteristics in many people I met. I loved them. I love them still. I will never stop loving people. They are beautiful beings...

Rudyard Kipling

If

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

And then, something happened.
I let go. Lost in oblivion.
Dark and silent and complete.
I found freedom.
Losing all hope was freedom.
