Exclamation New sunspot

NEW SUNSPOT: A new sunspot is emerging near the sun's northeastern limb. It's the biggest active region in months and appears to be a member of new Solar Cycle 24.

interesting, i have a few questions if you have time. 1) if this sunspot is emerging does that mean it will grow? 2) Is it expected that the sunspot will create a climate/earth change phenomenom? 3) Would their be any correation between the size of the spot and the magnitude of the climate phenomenon (if there would be one)?

Sunspots develop and persist for periods ranging from hours to months, and are carried around the surface of the Sun by its rotasjon. An average solar cycle ranges from 75 to 155 sunspots. Cycle 24 sunspot 1005 remains quiet and is no threat for solar flares. It is the biggest spot of the new cycle thus far.

Solar activity waxes and wanes in 11-year cycles. Lately, we've been experiencing the low ebb, very few flares, sunspots, or activity of any kind. The peak of the next sunspot cycle is expected in late 2011 or mid-2012 — potentially affecting airline flights, communications satellites and electrical transmissions.

During an active solar period, violent eruptions occur more often on the sun. Solar flares and vast explosions, known as coronal mass ejections, shoot highly charged matter toward Earth.
