Square Watermelons
Square Watermelons
Catherine and News & Commentary, July 20, 2009 at 12:07 pm Japan has again shown off one of its greatest innovations - square watermelons. For years consumers struggled to fit the large round fruit in their refrigerators. And then there was the problem of trying to cut the fruit when it kept rolling around. But 20 years ago a forward-thinking farmer on Japan’s south-western island of Shikoku solved the problem. Re: Square Watermelons
Hi peacandlove,
I suppose it makes sense, keeps them from rolling out of the fridge. Also the bright guy doubled the price of his produce just by putting it in a glass box. What really suprised me was that watermelons in Japan are around US$ 40,00 each. And that's the round ones! We get them here for around US$ 2 - 3,00. The inbalance in the world sometimes just doesn't make sense. Best regards, Steve Quote:

Re: Square Watermelons
20 years from now all watermelons will be square, and some smart guy will figure out how to make them round...
