We Know Where You Are, Where You’ve Been, and Where You’re Going
We Know Where You Are, Where You’ve Been, and Where You’re Going
First, it was radar guns. Next came red light cameras, which took a photo both of your face and your license plate numbers. And now, surveillance vendors are promoting an American “homeland security” system that would track you, wherever you drive. If you think this technology is a pipe dream, think again. It exists now, and will soon arrive in the United States. You can thank the United Kingdom for pioneering this system. When fully implemented next year, the U.K.’s Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system will track nearly 500,000 vehicles daily through police cameras and CCTV systems. As you drive between major cities and (especially) into a major metropolitan area, your license plate will be scanned and your identity matched against various U.K. databases. Should you be driving a “vehicle of interest,” it will be easy for police to detain and possibly arrest you. And since the results will be archived for five years, investigators can subsequently trawl the database of billions of vehicle journeys for whatever purposes are deemed necessary. Such a system already exists in London, where it was installed to reduce traffic congestion. Now, proponents justify it as a measure to fight terrorism, child pornography, and narcotics trafficking. In the United States, leading photo enforcement providers are promoting a similar program as a way for police to solve missing persons cases and reclaim stolen cars. But behind the scenes, they’re advocating a much more ambitious network with capabilities that would equal or even exceed those being developed in the United Kingdom. The potential for abuse is obvious. And you don’t need to look far to find it. In Canada, a police sergeant in Edmonton, Alberta decided to track the whereabouts of a journalist who had criticized the city’s photo radar operation. Police followed the critic to a local bar, hoping to arrest him for driving under the influence of alcohol. Unfortunately for police, the journalist took a taxi home. Shortly thereafter, the plan became public knowledge after someone inside the police department leaked tapes of radio traffic to the press. What politician might be silenced after the license numbers of both he and an alleged mistress are found at the same hotel? What civil libertarian will feel compelled to stay at home rather than risk harassment by police if he drives his vehicle to a political rally? The prospects for continued abuses are real, and growing rapidly. One thing’s for sure. Big Brother has literally taken to the roads. If you want transportation privacy in this brave new world, buy a bicycle—or a good pair of hiking boots. Copyright © 2008 by Mark Nestmann http://sovereignsociety.typepad.com/marknestmann/ |

Re: We Know Where You Are, Where You’ve Been, and Where You’re Going
Hi BaggyWrinkle,
I am not surprised ... End of the eighties I have been working for a contractor operating closely with law enforcement and intelligence agencies. Part of my job was technical investigation and was almost every fortnight in the UK for checking out new equipment, technology and applications. Amongst others there was already a lot going on on software detecting suspicious behavior from surveillance camera's observing crowded area's (like bus/train/subway stations). So if you are able to detect suspicious behaving persons in the midst of crowded area's not by watching but using software to decide for you ... you start to understand that there is a lot possible for quite a while now. And then I did not even mention that with camera I do not only mean recording device in the visible spectrum ... I have no 'global' experience but the UK was definitely leading in Europe and probably still is today. Big brother still sounds like a person but the scariest part is that it is more computers and machines watching and DECIDING (software). If those decisions are coupled to machines again to take (immediate) action it's getting even much worse. A good example of things turning ugly is in the start of the film Robocop where the first model doesn't HEAR the gun drop ... Smart weapons .... ? I consider the use of weapons not very smart Cheers |

Re: We Know Where You Are, Where You’ve Been, and Where You’re Going
You know...I don't care if they know where I am, where I've been, or where
I'm going....they, who-ever the hell 'they' are can please themselves. They can drown in their stolen information. Maybe it's the other way round anyway. That every bit of me/you/us they think they have...really they are being changed and affected by it. Influenced by it. Transformed by every private detail they snatch. We don't have to do anything except resist feeling fear. All bad vibes will.....Return to Sender..... Return to Sender... http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=-J3tdAuBJ3k...... |

Re: We Know Where You Are, Where You’ve Been, and Where You’re Going
Whoever is assigned to track me will be utterly bored to death. On a typical day I take my daughter to school, stop by the grocery store and come home. He or she will quickly die of boredom.
I know this is serious and maybe I would have cared more when I was younger, but now? Watch me all you want. |

Consider your post again when you realize that 'they' are in the first place machines that filter and match certain patterns to decide on logical (pre-programmed) rules (which may contain errors) that your 'behavior' matches the one of what they (people here) consider to be a terrorist. As human rational thinking tends to sink away you start realizing why the tendency of no need for a fair trial is emerging .... Machines cannot be wrong can they ? They will even claim they do not suffer from prejudice ! Cheers |

I understand your view ... What would happen on the day that you completely fall out of your pattern ? I know it sounds spooky ... I address the point just to raise awareness. They want people to be boring and doing the same stuff over and over again. They don't want you to be creative and spontaneous. If you would be you are more difficult to control .... Uniformity is really what they are aiming for ... makes the controlling software a lot easier ... I don't want to advocate this point too much ... It also indicates where our strength is ... be diverse and unpredictable ! Cheers |

Don't take me wrong, I do respect your point, which is a good one btw ... I am also not in favor of fear and every time I see the "I am mad as hell" clip from network it strengthens the vibes of resistance too. In a previous post there was some advice as well ... And apart from the issue here it might be good advice in general: Be spontaneous, constructive, renewing, unpredictable, refreshing etc. This will enhance the 'positive' feeling, the power of manifestation, and great feeling of accomplishment. And on the go you get the resistance against the enforced uniformity for free ! Having the feeling that no one should be interested in WHAT YOU DO might even be somewhat depressing ... Cheers |

nothing . We are used to being monitored for the last 5 years by the Australian Secret police ASIO and the Italians too , since we moved here in Italy. So I try to be very carefull about not giving opportunities to the scumbags to entrap or blackmail us . The crime ? A family search after my wife found out at the age of 50 that she was adopted . The family seerch revealed a brother who is a highly positioned judge with a false identity , this person is an ASIO spy . No doubt those new technologies will be applied by the government crims to harass and entrap more people . |

Re: We Know Where You Are, Where You’ve Been, and Where You’re Going
yeah,
its already in america, has been for awhile now.. sadly most people dont even care, and think that because its given a cute little name like "on star", that "oohh we gotta get that in OUR car"!! lol they just play word games and people buy into it. maybe 'on star' would be nice to have in a spaceship.. "intergalactic on star".. lol but people dont need to be tracked everywhere they go, and have devices in their vehicles that makes it easy for someone to push a button and hear everything without you ever knowing.... nice post. |

They can even shut your automobile down and lock the doors to keep you from escaping... It's been done.

Re: We Know Where You Are, Where You’ve Been, and Where You’re Going
They can already get you for speeding in the US with ezpass (a microchip auto toll paying device that fools - um - I mean Americans who can't spend the five minutes to wait in a toll line have on their autos) and how fast you make it between toll points.
Also? Before it was ruled illegal in NY? They were selling the info to marketers so they could build establishments and post billboards along the roads based on the most common demographic. Yep... we are minupulated to the DIME. Not this kid. I wait in line. :-) And I smile and wave at every security camera I see. LOVELOVELOVE, C |
