Pickens: Oil Will Reach $300 a Barrel

Friday, August 28, 2009 8:04 AM

Oil legend T. Boone Pickens, now CEO of BP Capital, says oil prices will continue to rise, possibly reaching $300 per barrel.

“Look at the history,” Pickens told Dan Mangru of Moneynews. It proves oil prices will go up, as OPEC revenues increased five times over the last five years, he says.

I don't like that guy He's been sniffing around in Canada lately, transmission lines are going up. His progeny -

Michael O'Brien Pickens

Son of oil maven T. Boone Pickens (net worth: $2 billion) was charged with securities fraud in 2005. Along with an accomplice, Pickens was accused of buying shares in various "pink sheet" and OTC companies, and then leaking what investors thought was inside information about those companies. That information drove up share prices, securing a profit for Pickens and his accomplice. Pickens plead guilty in U.S. District Court in Manhattan after signing a sentencing agreement; his father paid the restitution order.

Just this week I saw very clearly, in a dream, a Chevron sign with gas at $4.80 a gallon. That was the price quoted at the top of the list on the sign. That means it would be the cheapest price for regular, going up in price by a few pennies per gallon from there. So, how does the $300 a barrel and $4.80 a gallon match up? I'm thinking it's on the way right now, creeping up like before. Sheesh, what else?

Winters coming we have to heat our homes might be a good idea to lock in your energy costs for natural gas

It's odd to me that this recent forecast comes when several major new oil finds have been announced. Then again, oil markets work in odd ways.

Pickens has this website too: Pickens Plan.

There is also a political edge to his obsession. Politics and Pickens go together, as is obvious from the walls of his offices, lined with photographs of him with world leaders. One shows him with the Queen, Prince Philip and George HW Bush; another is with Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan; a third shows him on board Air Force One with the current President Bush. There is a signed calendar from Arnold Schwarzenegger on the table.
