Whistleblower Levels Shocking Allegations at Bush's Spying Programs
Former U.S. intelligence NSA official Russell Tice is a true patriot.
Whistleblower Levels Shocking Allegations at Bush's Spying Programs It seems Bush's lust for spying went so far as to target reporters, and even the senator tasked with overseeing U.S. intelligence. On Jan. 21, former U.S. intelligence official Russell Tice appeared on MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olbermannn" and broke a sobering bit of news that, sandwiched between Obama's inauguration and sweeping executive orders, went largely ignored by the media: Under the Bush administration's notorious warrantless spying program, not only did the NSA eavesdrop on millions of Americans, it turns out it specifically targeted "U.S. news organizations, reporters and journalists." As Olbermannn put it, "non-terrorist Americans, if you will." entire article here; http://www.alternet.org/story/122234/?page=entire |

Re: Whistleblower Levels Shocking Allegations at Bush's Spying Programs
I picked up a Vanity Fair today (splurged!), February 2009 issue. The cover says "God help us all" Uncovering the Darkest Secrets of the Bush White House (An Oral History).
p. 88: The threat of 9/11 ignored. The threat of Iraq hyped and manipulated. Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib. Hurrican Katrina. The shredding of civil liberties. The rise of Iran. Global warming. Economic disaster.... with fresh insight into the roles of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and other key players p. 90 quote: "Everybody wanted to be called to some shared sense of purpose and sacrifice and all that, and Bush never did it." Matthew Dowd, chief strategist for Bush's 2004 presidential campaign Lots of other people in high level positions. Yikes |
