Blimey, sooo many people from Blighty already
![]() I'm sure others have been a more than a tad disheartened by the bullying dominance exhibited on fora elsewhere, I surely hope that won't happen here, there is a true spirit of friendliness and co-operation but 'tis awfully early days so all fingers and toes are crossed. My heartfelt thanks for setting up this place, 'twas much desired and is much appreciated. Personally I'm not convinced a rally is justifiable just yet but maybe that's just my misunderstanding of the terminology, a meetup of some sort sounds like a good idea - anyone care to suggest some form of agenda? Any venue suggestions should most certainly include camping options and train/bus accessibility for the less mobile or financially challenged amongst us. Good luck to everyone from a fella on a flood plain! (hello Slough, you're just up the road from me, a few miles west of Reading) ps: has anyone else noticed the irony of the title wording in this thread "Unitied" - never was a truer word writ given our current commitments... I wouldn't call it a rally but more of a personal get together for people with the same interests. I't would help for us to get to know each other and form communities, just in the event the worst were to ever happen. Doesn't have to be "end of the world" orientated. I'm sure many of us felt alone in our views and this is the perfect platform to get together, and if the worst did happen we would have a good chance. Cheers |

Hello all.
I currently live in Farnborough, Hampshire. I am however, not English but Swiss! Agree with Bill, Switzerland is a beautiful, efficent country. However I'd like to point out that should tshtf - it probably won't be very welcome to the non-swiss who aren't already there. I grew up in the USA and have always considered myself American, after living there for 25 years I was deported back to my home country of Switzerland ( Long story which I will probably share someday). So,you might see some of my more "American" views come out, but if I get too uppity just let me know! Today I find myself in the beautfiul, yet rainy country of England. It's from there that I send a very friendly hello to this great new forum! |

Hi Verity
Welcome to a Swiss American Brit! You're just down the road to me in Dorset so maybe we'll get together sometime. Yes I have found Switzerland to be super efficient but isn't that all based on the economic system? If money collapses Switzerland will be floundering in the manure with the rest of us - except we may be planting potatoes in the muck! Dave |

However they are part of the EEC - Which is why I can work and live in the UK with no problems. To live in Switzerland you need a permit. Alas it's not as easy to go there as it is for me to come here, seems abit unfair I know. |

Hi,
I'm in Bristol here. I'm well up for meeting anybody for tea and cake sometime. I need to talk to like-minded people. Living in conspiracy central on your own is not a healthy space I feel. Best M |

Yeah totally, but you know how people are stigmatised by the whole thing. i suppose i've been indoctrinated somewhat into believing that we are all crazies... and of course there does appear to be quite a lot of delusion around the place.

Hi all
Great to see so many Brits announcing themselves, but it seems a bit chaotic at the moment. For that reason I just started another regional specific thread for my area called Midlands UK. I'll still keep monitoring this thread (no point in cutting ourselves off from each other because of circumstantial geography) but it should help us get a clearer idea of who's where. It's also ideal for any passing MiB of course, so make sure you ask for photo ID before you open the door to strangers. And make sure you're suitably armed just in case ... ![]() |

Hi everybody
My name is Andy and my family and I reside in Colchester, Essex. For a while now, my wife and I have been facing the fact that we may have to leave the UK for reasons stated by Bill Ryan earlier in this thread. However... My wife and I both dearly want to stay in the UK because we love it. Not in a jingoistic/nationalistic sense but, as we walk the countryside of the UK, we both feel a love in the land that remains despite our troubled times. You only need to experience places like Stonehenge, Avebury, Silbury Hill, Callanish Stones in Scotland, etc, etc, to see that there was once magic in these isles. I was lucky enough to live in Wales for 2 years and I echo a previous poster in this thread when I say that I think Wales would be a fine setting for a new community. I believe the word "Wales" derives from an old Saxon word meaning "foreigner" as that is where the native Britons were forced when the Saxons invaded. I found a sense of community and identity still existing there, together with a rich agricultural tradition (which led me to become interested in growing my own organic veg, which I still do). Perhaps that is where we will all end up, coming together from all corners of the Land, gathering to proclaim a new era of peace and prosperity for all. That's my dream, anyway... ![]() |
