Question canadian credit law

there has been much discussion about the fact that credit cards do not have enforceable credit. this might explain why they charge 19%+ for the service. does anyone know about the canadian perspective on the matter?
if one defaults on a canadian agreement, what can happen?
i do understand the moral obligations involved, but am curious about the legal side of things.
