Swanny: I agree with you and others on here. I believe it is necessary for the existing systems to crumble, in order to make way for the new ways to come forward.

I am not at all worried about what will take its place. Somewhere within me, I know and trust that all of what is to be, has been planned out and will be put into place for a whole new paradigm.

I agree though, that in the meantime, while the last remnants are being torn down, there will be great hardship for all of us, of all ages and status. In my opinion, this is unavoidable. There is a certain healing also that can occur within each of us, as we go through this purification. Its a good thing.

True Swanny and if I live to a ripe old age than I'd think the same way. But if I get to that ripe old age and am just a vegetable laying in a bed in a nursing home and can't wipe my own butt, then put me out of my misery! I don't care, choke me, shoot me, or roll me out in front of a bus.

That is so nice Humble Janitor. Our elderly in our modern culture are shoved into institutions and forgotten about....it is so sad. The young people are too busy with their work and lifestyle to visit their elderly parents in these places. The loneliness is very hard on them, & quite often they give up and die sooner than they would, if they were able to live at home.

Sorry....don't mean to take this tread off track

That's ok as it relates to Dan's concern about the older folks who might be left behind should things collapse.

My grandmother is very fortunate to still have her house. Breaking her hip didn't quite stop her, though it's slowed her down a bit.

Humanity seems to be at a crossroads where if we carry on as we are we're doomed. I hope the economic "crisis" will force more individuals to question their activities/material desires and embark on the path of putting people and the planet's well being before excessive economic gain or profit?

Idealistic perhaps but I find the following quote by Margaret Mead, an anthropologist, hugely inspiring. 'Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed people can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has'.

It can be if the old, corrupt systems come crashing down within it.

Well Lloyds bank here in the Uk has now gone down also and will be looking to be nationalised.
So things are really going down the tube as was said many months ago now.
Best thing now is to be ready as we were back before christmas 2008, prepare for any eventuallity.
Don't forget what George Green said "Look for that 3 day closure like a bank holiday where all banks will close, that's the first sign.

News of the world run an excellant story about just how much Britain is in debt for.
It was said we would have to close.
1. all prisons,
2. Universities
3. do away with the police force.
4. Pull the army out of Afghanistan
5. And do away with the benefit system.
Now that's a hell of a lot of money we're talking about here, we are in such a terrible state of affairs this may take 10 years before we see a change for the better.
