It happens in every forum, especially when a new one starts up. People spam and post meaningless garbage just to get thier post count up. Apparently some folks out there think if they have a huge number of posts under thier name they will gain respect or appear to be in the know.
Why not just disable it? |

However, do you really think this community suffers that kind of membership? From what I have seen so far, I dont think so. |

The complaint that some folks overpost simply to bump their pet topic up has some merit. It happens on every list. It only works a couple times, though. If no one responds, the original poster starts to look silly after a while, and with no further posts, the topic sinks into obscurity. |

Some times its like an ego trip to have such a high post count. Some people in other Forums I've frequented were actually competing with each other to see who could hit the 1000 post count, but within the rules of the Forum. But the best was the signature of the main admin from one particular Forum. It may not be appropriate in regards to Project Avalon's members, but there are some that may fall into that category. Here's the sig: ![]() Take care all. Best regards, John DarkMatter |

I think getting rid of it is more positive than negative.
It could also help the odd one or two with their ego issues which we are all trying to resolve in our own way |
