How more humble can we be than Being here Now.

Thank you Beren for posting in full Christs words.
Humility works in this world and is very powerful.

Every person in recovery from any form of addiction who is on 12 step program will have seen in the steps of the program the need for humility the program is very explicit dependence on the drug or alcohol is removed by the humility to ask God for help which is always given. Millions are sober in the true sense of that word throough sincerely asking for help and following the steps then as a result of a spiritual awakening carry the message to still suffering alcoholics.
That is the love of God in action.
But we must sincerely ask with the knowledge that we are powerless over the addiction without the help of God.
You could say that addiction, the wanting more and more, is also an attribute of the ego, and only God can remove the ego.
We take 100 nsteps towards God and He will take a 1000 towards us.
As we have free will we must ask, God does not force or push.
Tremendous power in humility, it takes courage to surrender to the will of God,to align with His. When this is done we are free to be what we really are, moment by moment.

So loving God is very practical NOW in this world and ever more so true at this time

Thanks Beren
Chris

To me, being humble has no religious origin. It's just to live life and treat people the way you'd want to be treated. To have respect for others that you know. To live by a code. Etc.

and here is the good news :

humility cannot be learned

it's rather a question of un-learning

we are born humble

it's our birthright

we just have to re-member what we are

And in that process of remembrance we learn that everything we knew here on Earth was just a speck of what we are.
It takes humility to grasp all that .

You are very right!
It has never been religious. It is that deep private feeling where you open up before the Maker.

Hello dear !
I like your back-to-basics thing!

Reminds me of a part of the U2 song Mysterious ways, where you hear - If you wanna kiss the sky ,better learn how to kneel -

Question Re: Being humble - a key to eternity

being humble to me simply means being open and in ah~ 'to all there is'
and loving thy neighbor as thyself.

for many of us quite a difficult lesson

Talking Re: Being humble - a key to eternity

Within trillions upon trillions of stars we are but a speck of dust, yet we are part of the trillions of stars , worlds. dimensions and parallel universes. Because of the many unknowns we have to remain humble. The more I learned the less I know, for knowledge is infinite yet is simple as it connects you to the origin of all that is, past, present and future. In trying to find absolute truths we have committed many mistakes by condemning others in the process of our search for the so called truth. For me it is enough to know that the origin of all things is within each and everyone of us and because of this I am humble by the beauty of all that is and I ponder at the possibilities of all that could be.
Ah humility for it is in the knowing that I realize how little do I really know and how much I have yet to learn, perhaps a million lifetimes more, perhaps a trillion. May our journeys be full of love, compassion, forgiveness and joy, may it connect you to the origin of all things in ways we have yet to imagine.

Blessings to all ...

Yea, Beren ...... totally inspired line.! and i think that means there's no either/or here ..... but BOTH. so, it's sorta like you can't have the sky without the earth ... not if you're human, at least.

I LOVE U2!! Good lyrics, good rock n roll, Celtic brothers.

love,
hippihill

True, but without it we may never approach the light. It is also endangered because it threats the very survival of foolish pride and all that emerged from it.
