Greeting's to all,
It should be noted, that all commercial aircraft taking off at Washington's National Airport, may only approach from along the Potomac River, which is basically on a very narrow South -North curve. All other areas are restricted to military cleared aircraft. It is extremely rare, to see any aircraft above the District, other than (US Park Police Helicopters) within the surrounding Maryland & Virginia suburbs, that are within the Wash.495 Beltway. Dulles Airport in Virginia, and Baltimore BWI in Maryland, have approaches that are both at least 20-25 miles away from DC Dulles 25 miles Southwest, and Baltimore BWI is approx 20-25 miles Northeast, respectively. Both, also require a Northeast to Southeast approach to both airports. giovonni Last edited by giovonni; 10-06-2008 at 04:26 AM. |
